Chook Democracy

The chooks, which is Aussie vernacular for chickens are, for me an endless source of interest, entertainment, meditation and spiritual insights.
Spiritual insight you ask?
Spiritual insight is a thing that I believe can be found completely anywhere and everywhere.
Even from the traffic that traverses the roads.
In fact I used my traffic experience to daily divine what kind of a day I was about to have at work that day. And the ride home too was often a summation of how my day had been. Every little thing makes up an important part of the whole.

I have two homes; one in the city and another 'down the farm'. Indeed this fact is one of the main reasons that I am seeking to make a decent living via the internet.
When I am away from the farm I rely on neighbours to feed and water the chooks and gardens in my absence. I suspect the neighbours do not feed the chooks as well as I do so often when I return they seem only a little bit ravenous.
And just the other day I watched on as the chooks delivered to me an important sociological and political message that has global implications.

First I need to describe their 'society' a bit. There are two pens. One has 1 rooster and 4 hens and the other adjacent pen has 3 roosters and 7 hens.
Now everyone, I'm sure has heard about 'pecking order' and it is true that chook colonies have pecking orders. So I assume I don't need to explain to anyone quite what a pecking order is?
Invariably when I arrive back at the farm I give the chooks a bit of a feast in the way of scraps, new straw for their roosts and a few mixed grains.
I've developed a chook feeding technique that minimizes their territorial ownership over food. In doing this I scatter their food into many little sections so that all of them can then eat away happily and undisturbed. This technique completely eliminates pecking order and territorial squabbling.

Here endeth the lesson.
But if this is too obscure allow me to elucidate a little further;
IF every living person on this planet had sufficient food, shelter and basic comforts plus the security of knowing ithat the supply was not endangered virtually all in-fighting would stop and bullying tactics would be rendered redundant. I say nearly all as I believe there would still be fights because of sex but this is an entirely different topic.

Keep posted.
