BRAINSTORM THEME IDEAS: First you and your family or loved ones should brainstorm some ideas of different ways to decorate the tree. There are many ways for it to be done and no way is a wrong way. Just try to make sure that your theme ideas can have several different ways to come together. For example, if you choose a vineyard theme for your tree, you would be able to decorate it with grapes and grape vine and shades of purple. You could use purple ribbon, purple ornaments, and even purple lights if you want to go all out. Then there are color themes that you could choose, like red and gold or red and green. You could simply use red and gold ornament, for example, and add in some red ribbon with gold trim on the edges. You could even add in some red berries here and there to make your tree look fuller and complete your themed look. Another theme you may choose might be a sports team theme. For example, you if your are a big fan of a particular team, like the Buckeyes, you could decorate your tree with red and gray ornaments, red and gray ribbons, and hang little buckeyes on the tree as well.
PURCHASE AND COLLECT ITEMS TO DECORATE: Once you and your family have decided on a theme, think about the decorations that you will need. Will you need ribbon, new ornaments, or new lights? Make a list of the new decorations that you will need for your themed tree. Be sure to check online and at second hand stores to find these items that you need to cut down on your bill. If you are unsuccessful finding your new decorations at these places, then simply buy the necessities right now, and wait until after Christmas to get great deals on Christmas trimming accessories in the stores.
DECK THE TREE: Once you have your decorating accessories for you new theme you can start decorating the tree. Add the lights first, and then start adding your ribbon next. After the ribbon, garland, or berries you can start adding the ornaments and tree topper to finish your themed Christmas tree.
