Choosing the Best Chore Plans for Your Family

Carrie Lowe
With almost all families, chores are a very important part of the way the family stays organized. Without chores, children also do not learn the responsibility that is necessary in order to run their own household when they are grown, which can leave them with some distinct problems when they are living on their own.

If you have numerous children ensuring that each child gets a proper education in all of the chores can be quite difficult. However, it is still not impossible, by taking some time and allowing your children to rotate through the chores, you will find that it is much easier to ensure that proper rotation is done. Because each family is different, it is important to only use this as a guideline for setting up your own schedule and plan and be certain that you are allowing each child ample time to master each skill before moving on.

The best way to ensure that your child can truly master a skill is by allowing them to practice that skill repeatedly. With this in mind, you should plan to allow each child to do a small set of chores for at least a full week. This will allow ample time to practice, follow up and correct and truly master the skills necessary. However, if you find that your child is struggling with some of the basic concepts, you should certainly feel free to allow them to spend a longer period of time working on the task before moving onto something else.

By giving them this practice time, they are able to really fine tune their cleaning skills, as well as learn self discipline by sticking to the task until it is mastered. These are some skills that are highly desirable for adults, and ensuring that your children learn them at a young age is very important.

Just work to ensure that you are selecting chores that are age appropriate for your child based upon their abilities. Most young children are capable of helping with dishes, sorting laundry and other simple tasks at a very young age, which can allow you to leave more complicated chores such as yard work for the older children who would be able to handle the work. In order to ensure you are getting the best practice possible, ensure that you work with your child on the chore a few times so that you can quickly correct a mistakes that they are making, before those mistakes become a bad habit that is very hard to break.
