Choosing the Best Compact Car Available

John Koren
The way that oil prices at gas stations keep climbing everyone is wishing that they had a more economical car. The good thing is that there are now a lot of choices when it comes to choosing a small and compact vehicle. How do you choose? There are a few things to consider when you are looking at these cars.

First of all, check out the miles per gallon that the vehicle gets as well as the type of gas it takes. The Honda Fit for example, gets about thirty-three miles per gallon! That is quite a bit! This car takes regular gas just as most compact cars do. There are two types of Honda Fits. There is a sport one as well as a base one. The sport model surprisingly gets more miles per gallon than the base one does!

Nissan also makes a compact vehicle called a Versa and is fairly new. The Nissan Versa gets a total of twenty-seven miles per gallon. This is not as much as the Honda, but it is still really good compared to most vehicles. The Toyota Yaris gets about thirty miles per gallon and the Chevy Aveo gets around twenty-six miles per gallon.

The next factor that you need to consider are the other elements of the car. These are things such as the cars' integrity, which refers to the paint on it, as well as other factors such as the cars' mechanical performance. The Honda Fit has a great track record in all different elements of performance. The only factor that does not do as well are the headlights. They tend to not be as bright as they could be. Another thing to look at with compact cars is how you feel in the car.

The Honda Fit is roomy in the front of the vehicle but may be cramped for passengers that are in the back. The Nissan Versa has shaky reviews on reliability as well as the headlights. However, the integrity of this vehicle is good. The Toyota Yaris is a good choice however there is limited trunk space there. The Chevy Aveo does not have much room in it for its' passengers.

You may also want to consider looking at what type of transmission the vehicle has. Almost all of the subcompact vehicles come in automatic. The Honda Fit sport model is the only one that does not. Does the type of transmission make a difference on the vehicles' performance? No, it is just another choice that you have.

The last thing that you need to consider is what your budget is.

The Honda Fit the sport model costs about $16,000. The base model of this vehicle costs about one thousand dollars less. The Nissan Versa can start at $13,000 and can go up to $16,000 depending on what features you choose. The Toyota Yaris and the Chevy Aveo cost about the same as the Nissan Versa. Overall, every one of these vehicles has a pretty good review. The Honda Fit though seems to have the best reliability.
