Choosing a Cellular Phone

Regular Keyboard Versus QWERTY

Anonymous
Because cell phones have become ever so popular, you might just need to buy a cell phone with a full QWERTY rather than put up with cell phones with regular keyboards. You'll wear out thumbs if you don't. This is especially true for people who have their lives revolving around their cell phones: couples on long distance love affairs, working moms who have to juggle family and work.

Now you don't have to press on the same key over and over again just to get your intended letter. You only need to tap once. Cell phones with QWERTY keyboards work a lot like computers, except that your fingers will need to pound on micro keys.

In most cases, QWERTY cell phones are in the category of smart phones, which are more pricey than most phones. However, there are basic cell phone models that aren't as expensive.

Most cell phone brands have models with QWERTY keyboards.

If you're using a cell phone with a QWERTY keyboard, you have a highly functional phone that recreates the computer experience. This really makes it easier for people to send longer phone messages. Many business people find it very convenient to use mobile phones with QWERTY keyboards.

There are basically three types of QWERTY mobile phones: the bar phones, flip style and slide out.

Bar-style QWERTY

Bar-style phones are easily the most popular of QWERTY cell phones, and they are the easiest to use too. With a bar-style phone, you really don't have to move anything. No need to flip, twist, swivel or even slide. It's a non-sense phone that features a full frontal view of the QWERTY keyboard. The most popular brand models of this type of QWERTY cell phone are Samsung BlackJack, Motorola Q, and almost all models of the BlackBerry.

The bar-style QWERTY cell phone is easily accessible, but these phones tend to be larger than other similar phones to accommodate the keyboard and the screen - not that sleek to look at.

Flip-style QWERTY

These type of QWERTY cell phones look like the regular clamshell phone and flip phones. The LG enV, for example, looks like any other candy bar phone when closed. But when you open it like a notebook, you can see QWERTY keyboard. Turn the phone to make the board face you and you can use it like a tiny, tiny laptop.

The good thing about flip-style QWERTY phones is that they are practically the same size as regular candy bar phones. However, they can be thicker than other models and have a smaller color display than regular phones.

Slide-style QWERTY

This type of QWERTY cell phones feature a keyboard that just slides in and out. The most popular models of slide-style QWERTY phones are those made by Taiwan's High-Tech Computer (HTC). These types of slider phones have large color displays and are smaller in size than bar-style QWERTY phones. However, they can also be thick.

In choosing a QWERTY cell phone, always consider if you're going to be comfortable with that kind of phone.
