Choosing Christmas Gifts from Daughters to Dads

Jaipi Sixbear
Choosing a Christmas gift with daughters for dads is a traditional job for moms. Dad takes the boys shopping for Mom, while Mom and the girls hit the stores together. It's hard for young girls to figure out what Dad would want. That's why they turn to the expert in everything about Dad. Unfortunately, some moms haven't a clue either. Buying for the opposite sex can be a nightmare, even when it's the man you know and love most.

Men are practical creatures. They like receiving gifts they will use frequently. Teaching your daughter this little tidbit is a gift in itself. Skip the glam and trendy. Appeal to Dad's practical side. What does he need? What can he always use more of? What are a few of his most used and frequently worn out possessions? Replacing them on Christmas could be a most welcome gift.

Keep your eyes and ears open to serve a need. Is your husband frustrated with that car coffee cup holder? Does his mug fit it? Your daughter could replace the holder with her allowance money. Or, she could get him a brand new mug that fits the one he has. Christmas gifts that please Dad don't have to be expensive or extraordinary. They just have to be useful and thoughtful.

Most dads love tools. Problem is, they have a ton of them. Who knows what's in that garage? Thinking your daughter could get your husband some new improved tool for Christmas? Leave the store flier laying around. Pretend to browse it in his presence. Mention how cool the tool is. Say something like, "It's probably overrated, though, don't you think?" Tools are a pet subject for most men. You'll find out pretty quickly if he wants one. Then, report back to your daughter.

Most men don't like wishy-washy Christmas gifts. Except when it comes to their daughters. Men have a soft spot in their hearts when it comes to their little girls. A nicely framed photo might just be the perfect gift for dad. Plus, it won't break her pint sized budget. If your daughter likes to draw, paint or write, Dad might enjoy a gift of talent. Whether it's a poem or a painting, personalized gifts of art are sure to make any father smile.

How about a gift of time? Dads love to spend time with their daughters. Suggest your daughter give Dad tickets to a sporting event they can attend together. Or, she could turn on the charm to convince him to attend the latest Twilight movie or other teen trend. Whatever your daughter decides to buy Dad in the way of tickets, time spent with his little girl is the real gift.
