Location, location, location! You are wrong if you think it only applies for real estate. Prime locations for anything will always be in higher demand. With a hotel this could mean many things, such as being beachfront, being in the heart of the city, or being close to public transportation. If you do not mind walking to a bus or train then you can actually save money on your stay by choosing a hotel a few blocks from the prime locations. Likewise, if you do not have to walk out of your hotel and on to the sand then a hotel across from the beach can be a more cost effective option for you and your family.
Price is directly related to the location of the hotel. By choosing the location carefully and considering all options you should be able to narrow down the choices available to you. Remember to ask about specials, discounts, and packages that might be offered but not openly advertised. Most hotels and resorts offer either an AAA or AARP discount. It does not hurt to ask and remember to always ask "Is this the lowest price?" If you just say "what is the price of a king? no smoking room?", then you might not find out that they are actually having a special on a room with 2 queen beds for a third off!
When it comes to amenities, everyone has their own wants and needs. Be sure to consult with everyone in your travel party so that you can narrow down what the property absolutely must have. If your spouse has to bring along the laptop then look for a hotel that offers complimentary wireless internet. If you have to pay a daily fee then you have to ask yourself if it really was the best deal available. The same applies with babysitting and kids clubs. If you are traveling with children and you know you will want to have some adult time alone with your spouse then look for a property that has one on-site.
By doing your research and comparing all available options you can make an educated decision about where to stay on your next trip. You can then have the peace of mind to know that you made the right choice. If you have trouble choosing a property then consider contacting a local travel agency, they are travel experts and can help assist you with all aspects of your vacation.
