Choosing a Name for Your Baby Girl in 2009

New Trends to Choose From

Shirley Adkins
The trend in baby names for 2009 seems to be for one of a kind names. Although this trend is not new, it has been becoming more popular over the last few years. Some people have really gone all out to choose a unique baby girl name, such as Seargeoh, Heavenly and Aquinnah. Even more people are choosing more common names and simply changing the spelling to create a unique baby name.

Below are some baby girl names I have found while helping my daughter search for the perfect name for her baby.

Shanadar - ("shan + a + dar"), the female version of Shandar derived from Pakistan, means "a fabulous moment in time"

Sundiere - ("sun + d + air"), of Indian descent, means "beautiful goddess"

Kaytlin - ("kate + linn") - variation of Caitlyn, Irish Gaelic region, means "pure"

Faylinn - ("fay + lin"), from the Fairy Kingdom, means "keeper of the tiny wolves"

Rhoslyn - ("ros + lin"), variation of Roslyn, means "Lovely Rose", grown only by the fairy folk

Shaylee - ("shay + lee"), Celtic Fairy princess of the field, means "shimmering wings"

Zuzanna - (" sue + san + na"), variation of Suzanna, used by many cultures, Italian, Swedish, Finnish, Russian, Dutch, English, and Biblical, means "Lily" in olden times and "Rose" in modern times

Reanna - ("ree + awn + na"), variation of Rhiannon, means "a great queen" to the Celts and "goddess of the moon" to the Welsh

Danika - ("da + nee + ka"), derived from danica meaning "morning star", being used more often since the 1970's as an English word, but would make a beautiful name

Kalinda - ("ca + lin + da"), a newly created name meaning "The Sun"

Keeley - ("kee + lee"), originally meant "descendant of Caoladhe", modern meaning is "Slender and Beautiful"

Lorelle - ("lore + L"), Elfin form of Laura, means "tiny being"

** Choosing the name for your baby is something you should give a lot of thought to. In most cases, this will be the name that your child will have to live with for her whole life. Remember that she will have to learn to spell it and others will have to learn to say it. No matter how hard we try to teach our kids to be nice to others, there's always going to be some kids that aren't nice. Avoid naming your child something that other children will make fun of.
