Choosing a Reiki Master

W.S.
Not all Reiki masters are equal. If you're thinking about taking a Reiki class, it's important that you make sure the teacher is right for you. In this article, I will detail how to choose a Reiki master that can provide the best experience for you as an individual.

Choosing a Reiki Master - Meeting Prospective Teachers

It can be frustrating interviewing prospective teachers of Reiki. You may have to meet with many different people before you find the right fit. The best advice I can give to someone who is in the market for a Reiki master is this. Don't settle. Take your time and consider all the options available to you.

The initial interview does not have to be too lengthy. A short phone call should be enough for you to get the feel for the Reiki master. If you get a bad feeling from them, stop right there. If the Reiki master seems like someone you could respect and get along with, you might want to consider them.

Also, remember that you don't want to take up too much of their time. More than ten minutes can be inconvenient. If you wish to speak with the Reiki master longer than this, you may need to schedule a formal appointment and payment may be required for such a meeting.

Choosing a Reiki Master - Interview Questions

There are some questions that you'll probably want to ask when choosing a Reiki master; some for yourself and some for the prospective Reiki master. Also be prepared for any questions the Reiki master might have for you. When you are prepared, you are much more likely to be accepted as a student.

Don't be discouraged if you are denied a place in the class by the Reiki master. If the student-teacher relationship isn't possible or there is not enough rapport between you, the Reiki master might deny you. If this happens, don't let it upset you. Move on and find another Reiki master.

Choosing a Reiki Master - Interview Questions for You

There are several questions you'll want to ask of yourself when choosing a Reiki master. The first of these questions is whether or not the gender of the prospective Reiki master is important to you. Do you prefer a male or a female teacher or is it of no consequence?

Are you willing to travel to attend the Reiki class? If not, this will narrow down your options. If you are willing to travel, you'll need to consider how far away you are willing and/or able to go to attend a class.

Payment is another thing to consider. How much are you willing to pay for instruction? If a prospective Reiki master is charging too much, this may put them out of the running.

Choosing a Reiki Master - Interview Questions for Prospective Teachers

One of the first things you'll want to find out about a potential Reiki master is their credentials. What are their credentials and how long have they been working with Reiki? You may want someone more experienced as opposed to someone who has only been practicing for a few months.

Another question you'll want to ask of a potential Reiki master is how many attunements they pass to their students. Do they offer booster attunements or not? Are they available to their students after class and to what extent? Are all levels of Reiki taught in the classes? What Reiki systems are taught?

You'll also want to ask the Reiki master what materials you'll need for their class and what topics are covered. You want the best Reiki class you can get so make sure that is, in fact, what you are receiving.

Of course you'll want to ask about the fees associated with the class. Cost can be a very important point of decision for most of us. If you can't afford the class, you needn't go any further.

You may want to ask the Reiki master other questions about the class such as how many students attend and how much of the class is instructional and how much is hands on. Also, you'll want to know if you receive a certificate after completion.

If you are prepared with these questions, you should be able to make an educated and informed decision when it comes to choosing a Reiki master.
