Choosing the Right Bangs for Your Face Shape

Jody Morse
There is no doubt that bangs are in style right now. If you have recently considered jumping on the bandwagon with a new hairstyle that consists of bangs, there are many things that you may want to take into consideration. One of these things is how to choose the right bangs for your face shape. Learn more about how to choose the right bangs for your face shape here.

Round Face

People with round faces are often very limited in which hairstyles look the best on them. One of the main goals that many people with round faces have is making the appearance of their face look longer. In order to reach this goal, you might want to consider a hairstyle with side-swept bangs. Side-swept bangs also tend to look the best in combination with layered hairstyles on people who have round faces. You will want to avoid very thick bangs, as they are likely to make your face look shorter and, ultimately, plumper.

Square Face

Most people who this face shape tend to focus on finding ways to elongate their face, mainly because the square shape tends to cause a shorter appearance. One of the best ways to reach this goal is to allow majority of your face to be seen. The best way to do this is with layered bangs, which will still give you the bangs experience, but that will also keep most of your forehead "exposed." If you have a square face shape, it is likely that you will want to avoid thick bangs, especially when cut straight across.

Rectangular Face

People with a rectangular face shape should follow the same guidelines as the square face shape when choosing bangs. While some square faced people may be able to get away with wearing thicker bangs hairstyles, this is really not the case for people with rectangular faces.

Oval Face

One of the best things about people with an oval face shape is the fact that they often look good in a variety of different hairstyles. The same applies to bangs hairstyles. No matter what type of bangs you are interested in, there is a good chance that you will look good in them if you have an oval face. So, why not get as creative as you would like and go with the bangs hairstyle that you feel the most comfortable with? Experimentation is the main key to finding the right hairstyle if you have an oval shaped face.

Oblong Face

People with an oval face shape should follow the same guidelines as the oval face shape when choosing bangs. The only difference is that people with an oblong face may want to avoid side-swept bangs, if they want to avoid adding a much longer appearance to the oblong face shape.

Heart-Shaped Face

Most people with heart-shaped faces are looking for a hairstyle that will make their chin look more delicate. In order to reach this goal, you may want to consider a hairstyle which consists of wispy bangs. When opting for wispy, angled bangs typically work the best. If you want a bolder look, in which there is more emphasis placed on your chin, you might want to consider thicker bangs. You will probably want to avoid layered bangs if you have a heart-shaped face.

Triangular Face

Most people with triangular shaped faces tend to look good in a variety of different bangs hairstyles. For the best look, however, there are several bangs hairstyles that you may consider. You may think about wispy bangs, side-swept bangs or very thick bangs. It is often a matter of personal preference for people with triangular shaped faces, so feel free to experiment.

These are just some of the things that you should take into consideration if you are interested in a bangs hairstyle. Choosing the right type of bangs hairstyle for your face shape is essential to looking good with bangs. Keep in mind that deciding to get bangs is a huge decision.
