A carburetor is one of many performance parts of your vehicle that makes your vehicle functional.

Several questions to take into consideration are.

The promise of carburetors is to deliver the correct fuel/air and volume, respectable to the engines revolution per minute, and other factors such as atmospheric pressure engine vacuum and humidity. This is no easy task as it has to be accomplished while on a shaking object the engine. A carburetorexperiences some of the harshest conditions known to any mechanical object and yet it must perform flawlessly under all circumstances using the least possible amount of gas. This speaks to the engineering genus that has gone into the development of carburetors today.

Brand

In searching for a carburetor for your engine repair keep in mind drivability and performance, without the use of too much gas there Is no one brand that is perfect, they all have something to offer some power others fuel efficiency some never ending trouble and finally some offer a name brand.

Size:

It's a well know fact that size matters but not in this case, it is the total opposite with carburetors bigger is never better. There is a well known formula that many car owners' neglects to take into consideration when purchasing a carburetor see formula below.

Engine size x Engine rpm x Engine VE
3456

Type:

If you decide to buy a Holley or Edelbrock carburetor you should keep in mind what series you need to choose.

Edelbrock carburetor comes with two excellent choices, the thunder and performer series. The thunder series is our first choose as it comes with a secondary air valve that is easy to adjust, the other series does not have this. Also remember your calibration kit.

If you decide to choose a holley carburetor you will have to choose between a double pumper and a vacuum secondary the difference on the vacuum secondary lies in the demand placed on the carburetor by the engine as the second stage will only open based on the engine load. This is accomplished with the use of springs the secondaries are held shut until the engine requires and increased flow. The double pumper operates through a direct link with the throttle the secondaries are open once there is an increase placed on the throttle it also comes with an additional pump on the accelerator as this prevents bogging activity. The double pumper cost more and guzzles a lot more gas.
