Choosing the Right Store for a Baby Gift Registry

When you are expecting your first child, you want to make sure that you have everything that you could possibly need for them when they arrive. A great way to get a leg up on acquiring your supplies is to make a baby gift registry. But, choosing the right store can go a long way to making sure you are properly prepared, as well as save you a massive headache in your near future!

The first thing you will need to do is make a list of all the items you need and you want for your baby. Look around online, do some research, and talk to friends, family, and coworkers with kids to get a general idea of what helped them the most in the first few months with their newborns. Once you have a comprehensive list on paper, you are ready to proceed!

Take your list with you to the stores you had in mind for your baby gift registry. Do they have all of the items on your list? This is a simple question, and can hopefully help you weed out a few stores. Any store you visit that simply doesn't have all of your list items shouldn't even be considered. If you can consolidate your future shopping after baby is born to one location, it will help to make things easier on the both of you!

The second thing you will want to look at it price. The store with the lower prices is almost always the way to go. If you can get the same diapers for a dollar less, why not? The same food for ten cents less a package, then why pay more? The more you can save yourself, the better off you are. Also, the lower prices mean that you are more likely to get more items from your gift registry. Another strong point is gift cards. If anyone gives you gift cards instead of a gift from your registry, it will simply go farther at a cheaper store than a more expensive one.

The next important factor you want to consider is this: the store's return policy. Does the store give out gift receipts? And how easily can items be returned? How long do you generally have to wait in line when returning something? A quick, painless gift return is a lifesaver when you have baby in tow, and simply have to return a few items that you might have received too many of from a few overzealous friends and family members.

Lastly, you want to factor in the store's location. How far is it from your home? How long will it take you to get there? How easy is it to get in and out of? Is it near areas with bad rush hour traffic? A store that is closer, and easily accessible can save you a tremendous deal of time when traveling with your newborn child. The quicker and easier you can make the trip, the better it is on both you and your child.

So! When you are choosing the right store for your baby's gift registry, keep in mind these key things we've discussed here, and you are sure to pick a location that will make you and your family very, very happy! Good luck!

  • Don't forget to investigate return policies, and compare prices.
