Choosing the Sex of Your Child

Designer Children May Be a Leap Forward for Mankind, but What About Those Who Are Already Looking for Families?

It is now possible, for everyone who can afford it, to choose the sex of his or her own child. Of course, this brings up debates about what happens to the embryos that are not the right sex for the parents. Would they destroy embryos for being the "wrong" sex? If you are against abortions, you may not want to opt in to this costly procedure since there is a chance that it will be unsuccessful. Even if the embryos are kept in a frozen vat somewhere in a lab, most pro lifers should be aware of any type of creation and destruction of life involved in vitro fertilization. Now there are several options for the remaining embryos you can have them frozen for later use, you can donate them, or have them destroyed.

Since they will be implanting the embryos into the mother's womb, they will use more then one just to give them a chance to become pregnant. Now if more then one of them stays around the mother will have to give birth to multiple babies. When you are caring around more then one child, you may be classified as a high-risk patient. The chances of you becoming pregnant with twins are 25%. Since they implant four embryos and in this case, of the same sex you may end up with four bouncing baby boys. Most families will want to do this because they want a pair of children one girl and one boy. Of course, many do not realize that they could end up with an uneven gender split in the family.

Something to keep in mind before consider taking a step like this is that no one will guarantee that you will become pregnant or that the baby that comes out in nine months will even be the sex you wanted. Would you be disappointed that your "designer child" was not what you paid for? There is no returning a child that is not what you expected. Then again, it looks like the only sure fire proof way of getting a single child that is the sex you want is to adopt.

Adoption is the perfect way to pick out the sex of your child because you are helping someone find a family a place they can grow up and feel loved. There are so many children out there already who are looking for someone that wants them. If you are already planning on spending the money to pick out the sex of your child you should look into this option.
