Guests get what they get. One thing that can put guests in a frump even in the middle of a wedding reception is being served food they don't like and then feel that they are responsible for eating it. The wedding buffet overrides this mood altering situation. No guest really can complain that they wanted a well done piece of meat but received a rare if they are the ones who are serving themselves in a buffet line.
The wedding buffet allows the bride and groom to select in advance the kinds of foods they believe will most likely please their guests. Then at the reception guest have the option to choose or pass on the foods that are offered. No one has anything on their plate that they didn't put there themselves. Guests should return to their seats pleased with the meal they have more or less put together for themselves. Already people should be a little happier.
Everyone can move and mingle A horrifying aspect of attending weddings for some people is the fear of being seated with people whom they don't know or with whom they are uncomfortable. Weddings can go on and on and so can the discomfort of the seating arrangement. Choosing a wedding buffet immediately helps to loosen people up and make them feel a little less trapped.
They know from the start that they will have a chance to leave the table to pass through the buffet line, maybe get up again to pick up some "seconds", roll on up there again for dessert and stretch it out once more for coffee. These moves added to at least one saunter or two to the bar can greatly reduce the terror of table entrapment. A wedding buffet builds in some mix and mingle time that will make your reception more relaxed, less stiff and more likely to be fun for the guests.
Getting your own food passes the time. Even at a table where the guests know each other and get along, no one likes waiting to be served. Employing the walk up and serve yourself device of a wedding buffet really can help to pass the necessary waiting time while everyone gets served. There is less sitting looking at the blank space in front of you where you should have a full dinner plate. Instead guests feel pro active as they join the line that is moving, even if slowly, in the direction of the food.
Wedding disc jockeys or masters of ceremony can even make a game out of the order of processing to the serving table. This can bring a certain esprit de corps to table mates who are meeting perhaps for the first time as they cheer for their table and against neighboring tables for first turn at the food platters. There's very little built in fun in a sit down meal, it duplicates a restaurant experience. But there is plenty of room to insert fun into a buffet wedding as guests help themselves to what is being offered.
Choosing a buffet wedding may save you money. In some instances going with a buffet may mean less expense for whoever is footing the bill. There is less table service required and you can sometimes save money because you are making the individual selections. Your table can be more or less sumptuous as you choose. You are also less likely to pay for food items that guests won't eat. Feeding people costs money, but it costs less if you don't have to purchase food that no one is going to eat.
A wedding buffet is seldom centered around rubber chicken. When it comes to your wedding reception you may want to make it a personalized party. That can be hard to do if you end with a meal that resembles so many other meals that guests have consumed: a piece of chicken, mashed potatoes and some green beans. There just isn't much that demonstrates the personality of anyone in that meal. The best you can hope for is that the chicken won't turn out to be rubbery.
With a wedding buffet you can add style and personality to your wedding reception with touches that just aren't going to show up as often in a sit down or even a family style meal. The bride's and groom's food favorites can even be woven into what is prepared. This is the kind of meal that will get people talking and create memories for a lifetime. Wouldn't you prefer guests to remember your special meal as more than one more rubber chicken.
Lots of the worry goes out of wedding preparation once you have decided on the kind of meal you will share with your wedding guests. Choosing a wedding buffet reduces anxiety but it can also adds fun and personality to your reception at no extra charge. .
