Choosing the right colors for your day will set the mood and attitude of the special day. Your colors should all be complimentary to one another and should be used properly. For instance, your bridal gowns, decorations, and flowers should all have comparable colors to create a uniform effect. If you're having a difficult time selecting colors, however, then don't worry. By sorting out just a few details you can automatically filter out some of the choices from the color palate. Here are a few things you need to take into consideration when selecting colors for your wedding:
Consider the season you're getting married.
The season you choose to get married in could heavily influence which color scheme you want to use. By keeping with the theme of the season your wedding will flow smoothly and blend in with the elements outside. For instance, if you're getting married in the Spring then you'll want to use soft, gentle colors that are light in nature. Summer colors are normally bright and bold. These Summer colors will be vibrant and add lots of drama to your wedding. Fall colors can really be beautiful if you choose to embrace the harvest hues such as the rich reds, oranges, and browns. Winter opens up the palate and allows you to choose sleek, clean colors like reds, silvers, blues, and deep burgundy.
Consider the church.
If you're to the point of choosing colors then chances are you've already selected a church to have your ceremony. Take a trip to the church and tour the inside for inspiration. The colors for your wedding need to compliment the existing structure and setting. This includes the carpet, drapery, décor, and architecture of the building. For instance, if the carpet and drapes are red, then having red bridesmaids dress may be a bit too much. However, you'll want to find a color scheme that will blend in and look like it's just another part of the church. The last thing you want to do is clash with the surroundings.
Find a flower and choose your colors around it.
If you're still having trouble, then perhaps you can find inspiration in a flower you're planning to feature in the wedding. You could easily base choices in color around the flower, especially when it comes to the bridesmaid dresses. Finding a beautiful, exceptional flower can be the only color palate that you need.
What kind of mood do you want to create?
It's important to understand that the effects of color will create different types of moods and emotions. For instance, vibrant colors add drama to your ceremony, while soft colors are more romantic and create and intimate atmosphere. Every color has a different meaning. It's been past traditions to choose your colors based on what they mean to you, and if that's something you're considering then here are the definitions of each color. Red defines beauty, passion, celebration, and luck. Yellow is a great color because it symbolizes friendship and cooperation, two things that are important in any relationship. Green, a color best used during the Fall, is the color of fertility, peace, and harmony. If the bride can get the groom to agree, then pink is a wise choice because it is the color of friendship and love. Light blue is used very often in weddings and is the hue of health, happiness, and patience. White, which is a very classy and sophisticated color to use on your wedding day, suggests peace, protection, and purity.
No matter what color you choose, be sure that they compliment each other and work well for your wedding. You can never go wrong by hiring a designer to help fulfill all your wedding day dreams!
