Chris Brown at the BET Awards; A Tale of Eye Drops and Crocodile Tears?

A Desperate Attempt for Sympathy?

Chris Brown at the BET Awards broke down and cried during a Michael Jackson tribute. However, as reported at Us Magazine, those tears may have been induced with eye drops.

Did Chris Brown at the BET Awards shed crocodile tears instead of real tears?

According to Us Magazine, a backstage source says before Chris Brown went on stage to sing Michael Jackson's Man in the Mirror, one of his bodyguards gave him tear-inducing eye drops. "He rubbed it in and he started crying," says the source.

Chris Brown has been through a real challenge since he pleaded guilty to felony assault charges against singer Rihanna. On stage at the BET Awards, wearing a white t-shirt and attempting to sing Man in the Mirror, Chris Brown looked like a broken man.

Could it be that the lyrics, about looking at yourself honestly and making appropriate changes, hit too close to home? Or, was it sadness over the loss of Michael Jackson? Or, was it the fact that the BET Awards, a celebration of African American achievements in entertainment, accepted Brown even though last year Brown called the BET Awards "wack" because they didn't invite him to join the program? Or, was it just an act, helped along with eye drops?

If Chris Brown at the BET Awards shed crocodile tears, it showed a desperate attempt for acceptance

Chris Brown is working to make a comeback. It didn't help that his European tour was canceled because he was denied entry to the UK due to his felony charge. If any star has had to be patient and just wait for the dust to clear, it's Brown. He's pleaded to his fans to encourage radio stations to play his records, and many fans are still in Brown's corner. Eventually, Chris Brown may return to the glory days, but until then no one should be surprised if desperation has set in.
