Chris Brown Flips Out on Good Morning America when Asked About Rihanna

Everyone Still Hates Chris Brown for Assaulting Rihanna

Memmay Moore
R&B singer, dancer, actor Chris Brown still doesn't get it. He wonders why America has not yet forgiven him for beating up pop-star princess, singer Rihanna in 2009.

"What about actors Mel Gibson and crazy man Charlie Sheen? They beat up their women and nobody's mad at them. It's time for America to forgive and forget," he says.

Chris Brown almost had it all. Blessed with good looks, talent and a great singing voice, he was on the track to superstardom. His dance routines were compared to Michael Jackson and Usher.

At age 19, he even had the most awesome girl friend, super talented, beautiful fellow R&B pop-star, singer Rihanna. For a time they were R&B's hottest couple, pop music's own Romeo and Juliet. Then one awful night two years ago, their fairy tale romance came to a screeching halt.

In February 2009, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to assaulting his then girlfriend Rhianna as they sat in a car after the Music Emmy Awards' show. Photos published all over the media the next day, showed beautiful Rihanna's badly battered face. She had been threatened, bit, choked and punched.

Under the terms of his plea agreement, Brown was placed on 5 years probation. He was ordered to attend domestic violence prevention classes and to provide community service work. There is still a restraining order in effect telling him to stay away from Rihanna.

Following his arrest, several of his commercial ads were suspended. Many radio stations stopped playing his music. His career slowed down. He released a statement saying that he was sorry and saddened at what transpired.

He appeared later that year on the Larry King Show with his mother, saying that he was not a violent person. Brown said he did not remember hitting Rihanna, but takes full responsibility for his actions.

He said that it was tough for him to look at the now famous photograph of Rihanna's battered face. He fears the photo will haunt him and define him forever, but does not fear his career is over.

In June 2010, Brown was planning a tour of Europe. He was denied a work visa in the UK on the grounds that he was "guilty of a serious criminal offense." The tour was postponed.

Recently while performing a tribute to Michael Jackson at the BET Awards, and singing "the Man in the Mirror" Brown fell to his knees and began to cry. Viewers questioned whether his emotions were sincere.

This week a newly blonde tattooed Chris Brown appeared on Good Morning America to plug his new album F.A.M.E. When host Robin Roberts asked him about Rihanna, Brown said that was old news and 'no big deal anymore', and he was there to talk about his album.

He performed a song from the album and then stormed off the set into the green room. A ruckus developed and security was called. Brown tossed a chair through a window, sending glass down onto the street below. He ripped off his shirt and stormed shirtless out into New York's cold Times Square.

He later took to Twitter saying, "I'm so over people bringing this past sh*t up while praising Mel Gibson and Charlie Sheen"

The post was quickly taken down and replaced with "All my fans, this album's for you."

But do not worry about Chris Brown. He has not gone away. He is scheduled to appear on "Dancing With The Stars" this Tuesday, and Good Morning America has invited him back any time. Robin Roberts wants to talk to him.

Chris Brown is a sleaze, IMO. He'll never grow up.

    Rightly so:)

I think he's wrong about Charlie and Mel. Mel's career is in the pits right now, and a recent survey on Charlie says his popularity is at like 17%. There's forgiveness, but we need to be sure all these guys get the help they need. Good article.

His attack was pure savagery. People shouldn't forget. Neither should they give a free pass to Sheen and Gibson. Grow up Chris Brown. Thank you for this story.

Wow! He really needs to get some anger-management help. He's got the money, it's probably his pride standing in the way.

good work :) Sometimes one action will brand a person for life.

I would be more leary of Chris since he does not recall the hitting, beating and assaulting actions. Violence is never a good choice for any reason. His willingness to take responsibility will begin with a turn of his behavior if he can get that straight for people like me. I don't judge, but I sure do avoid hurtful people.

I do not understand how GMA could retract and say he was welcome back. They fawned over him the next day, very anxious to be back in his favor. What a shame. Then DWTS had the highest ever viewership when he was on. Is everyone nuts?

Re-visting this one. Hope all went well. You were and still are in my prayers my friend. :-)
