Chris Brown Is Not Superhuman

Shaun M Mathis
Since he danced and sang his way onto the music scene with his hit single, "Run It", Chris brown as upheld a good boy image. He does not publicly bicker with any artist, hip-hop or R & B, he has not posted pictures on his website while inhaling marijuana and he does not have a sex tape swimming around the Internet. To top it all off, Chris Brown is dating one of music's sexiest women, Rihanna. After collaborating with some of the music industries biggest talent; Juelz Santana, Young Joc, David Banner, and Jordan Sparks to name a few, Chris Brown has also signed a multi million dollar endorsement deal with Doublemint gun. But as of Sunday, February 8, 2009, Doublemint gum has since pulled the commercial bearing the dancing and singing phenom.

Reports say that early Sunday morning Chris Brown allegedly assaulted a woman then fled the scene. As sources scattered to confirm or deny if the alleged woman was girlfriend Rihanna, Brown turned himself in to the Hancock Park section of the Los Angeles police department on charges of assault and battery. Later that evening, it was confirmed that the woman who made the 911. But why would Chris Brown assault the beautiful and sexy Rihanna? TMZ and other gossip media sites and some news channels have conjured up a story saying that Rihanna got jealous of a girl that Chris Brown allegedly gave his phone number to and invited to a party. Cute story isn't it? You have to laugh at the creativity of publicists. But striking your girlfriend as a result of her jealousy in public or not does not sound believable, at all.

Close sources say (wouldn't you like to know?) That Ms. Rihanna committed infidelity against her superstar boyfriend, but that is not the reason for the attack. Unbeknown to the public, Mr. Brown discovered that he had contracted a sexually transmitted disease, herpes to be exact. In the mist of a heated conformation, it is said that Chris then stuck Rihanna in the face, twice then in the struggle, he bit Rihanna on her cheek. It was after his actions that Chris Brown fled the scene and Rihanna phoned the police. This incident adds weight to my previous article, There is no Such Thing as Cheating: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1403306/there_is_no_such_thing_as_cheating.html?cat=9

I mentioned that humans are never satisfied and that it is almost impossible to be totally committed to one person. In this case, money and superstardom provided Rihanna with ample opportunity to do what she desired. She acted upon her impulses not knowing it would come back to burn her (laughing) literally. But if you are going to "cheat" on your spouse, why not use a condom? That is another topic.

I have been reading blog sites all day, listening to the radio and news and I am disgusted at the heat Chris Brown is catching behind this incident. I don't condone hitting a woman, I have sisters for that, but if the STD story is true, because no "story" has been "confirmed" then Rihanna rightful deserved what she received. In hast, Doublemint has "suspended" the commercial shot in mid 2008 and criminal charges are pending on Mr. Brown. I have been reading and hearing that Chris Brown's career is over due to this unfortunate incident, but is that fair? No one is focusing on the actions of Rihanna-at all. Again, the media and public turn on the man without getting all the facts. While Rihanna retreats to Barbados with her aunt, Mr. Brown is shielding from the backlash of the media. If the STD story is true then Mr. Brown had every reason to be upset and to demand an explanation from his songbird girlfriend. To my knowledge, herpes is not curable, controllable but not curable. When you are dealing with a person's health and life then all rules go out of the window. I find it funny that product companies, Pepsi and Doublemint, are just as quick to flee in the sight of trouble as they are running toward the artist when his or her star emerges. But what is the real issue here? Is it that Chris Brown hit a woman, Rihanna? Or is it that another role model for teens and young adults has gotten into trouble? I am leading toward the role model notion. What people still fail to realize is that actors, singers, and athletes are people just like the people who buy their records, movies and jerseys. They have the same hi's and low's but celebrities are judged harsher than the general public.

Many people will say that entertainers have an image to upload because they are in the public eye, is that fair? No. The public is in the entertainer's eye. The news, fans and paparazzi make everyday living conditions difficult for many superstars. The public put entertainers on a higher pedestal and when something goes wrong they act as if it is the end of the world, which is not fair to the entertainers. Chris Brown should not be tried, convicted and hung simply because he is a man, who happens to be an entertainer, lost his cool due to discovering a health crisis. If the STD story is true, that would be a lot for a 19-year-old young man, who is seemingly invincible, to handle.

Here is what really sucks about this whole situation. With the incarceration of Remy Ma in 2008, the upcoming prison sentence that rapper T.I will face, along with Whitney Houston's drug relapse, Black Hollywood is loosing faith in its brightest. Briefly, with the presidential victory, African Americans were being looked at in the positive light that we should always be basking in. President and First Lady Obama reinstalled hope and provided a better image for blacks in America. That is all too sad. African Americans are always turning to political figures, athletes, actors and singers to carry the bar for what African Americans are. Problem is, they are human just you and I and that bar occasionally gets dropped. Instead of putting our faith, support and love behind people we will probably never meet in our lifetime, why don't we put that faith, love and support into our communities, schools and one another?

At this point we all have to wait and see what develops in court, March 5, 2009 is the scheduled date for Mr. Brown. Until then, the rumors will fly and the whispers will be passed around and altered.

shaun.. lets just say, YOU, being unsafe and inconsiderate, gave your girlfriend a sexually transmitted disease, and she inturn attacked you; bruising and biting you. that would be acceptable? reguardless, he was wrong and should reap the consiquences, and if the STD scandle is true, she should be charged with some kind of indangerment charge.

Okay, I just went to Associated Press' site to find reporters who regularly report on these issues and they did confirm Rihanna: The Los Angeles Times, citing law enforcement officials familiar with the case and other sources it did not name, reported that Rihanna, whose full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, was the woman who told police that Brown had hurt her the night before the Grammy Awards, but none of these articles report anything about STDs. Be careful with blogs. One person says something and they run with it.

I would've held off on this one until you got a credible source. I have not heard a credible source back this information nor have they backed that the actual police report has Rihanna's name on it. Who was your credible source because a blog site doesn't do it for me?
