Chris Brown Turns Himself in for Allegedly Assaulting Rihanna
At 6:30 pm, Brown, 19, arrived at the Los Angeles Police Department and turned himself in, about eighteen hours after the fight took place. According to TMZ, Brown was booked with one count of felony criminal threats. Bail was set at $50,000. Brown was able to post bail and has been released from jail.
Cops arrived on scene near Hancock Park in Los Angeles around 12:30 am after receiving a 911 call. Brown wasn't arrested right away because he had fled the scene before units arrived. Girlfriend and Disturbia singer Rihanna, 20, was still on scene, and was seen with several bruises on her face.
In 2005 at the age of 16, Chris Brown released his self-titled debut album which went platinum in no time. Since then he has released another CD titled Exclusive, was featured on several artist's albums, has directed music videos, and raised proceeds for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Rihanna's debut album Music of the Sun was also released in 1995. Her first #1 single, SOS, came in 2007 after the release of A Girl Like Me. Her most recent album, Good Girl Gone Bad is her most popular album yet, with the chart-topping hits Umbrella, Disturbia, and Don't Stop the Music. Rihanna has done charity work for Fashion Against AIDS and UNICEF.
Both stars cancelled their singing engagements at the Grammy Awards. Rihanna had Grammy nominations for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals and Best Dance Recording. Chris Brown had nominations for Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Neither singer won an award.
When asked about Rihanna's condition, publicist Amanda Silverman said, "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the concern. So far, representatives for Chris Brown have yet to make a statement.
Chris Brown and Rihanna are pop-music's couple of the moment, so it's understandable that many people are upset over this incident. Brown has already lost many fans who are outraged over the fact that he hit a woman, let alone Rihanna. Chris has millions of teenage fans, and it's important that these girls know that it is not okay to be in an abusive relationship, no matter how famous the man (or woman for that matter) is. With adult celebrities, abuse and stints in jail are easily forgotten, but it will be interesting to see where Brown's career goes from here, especially since his primary fan base is teenaged girls, who are also fans of Rihanna.

Girls need to stop sticking up for Chris Brown just because they think he's hot. He's an abusive jerk. Hopefully he will go to jail and some guy will beat the crap out of him so he can see what it's like. Guys who beat women have mental problems, and aren't too smart to begin with. I hope this guy never makes another dime in hollywood.
