Chris Lee Joins Brett Favre, Others in Growing Club of Self-Embarassment

Why Do Guys Keep Snapping Self Pictures ... And Then Sending Them to Women?

The Internet gives us a certain strength that can only be born of the anonymity that keyboards and computer-screen masks provide. We've all seen blog posts, forum discussions, and email responses wherein the poster lambastes some particular person or organization and then signs off with a pen name, or with no name at all. This seems to be a fairly ubiquitous phenomenon, and it's understandable since there is a certain cathartic quality to unencumbered ranting. Another virus that seems to have affected many men, in particular, during the digital age is the compulsion to take various anatomical photos of ourselves and then send them to a woman or women in the process of "courting." New York Congressman Chris Lee, who resigned from office recently on the heels of one such scandal, is the latest to join this club, but the list of members is long and includes such luminaries of perpetual NFL quarterback Brett Favre.

Really, though, why would any self-respecting guy do something like this. Ego, maybe? Are you really just so good looking that a compromising picture of you will make that special someone fall in love with you on sight? Or maybe you're just hopelessly self-destructive. Whatever the case, it's highly unlikely that this tactic EVER works out as you had hoped. Most likely, rather than eliciting hearts in the eyes of a woman, these photos are the source of endless ridicule and disgust, and quite often they lead to scandal and disgrace. Just ask Favre or Lee.

The time has come to stop this foolishness. Take your pictures if you want, but then sit on them for awhile before dispersing them to the ether for all to see. Pull them back out and take a good look at them. Do you really want a lot of people to see you like that? Now, as a final test, show them to your wife. Your foolish notions will quickly crash to the ground, guaranteed.
