Chris Medina joins American idol for its tenth season. He got the news on the Wednesday January 26, 2011 episode. Chris Medina wooed the judges with his rendition of "Break Even" by the band Script.

Chris Medina who is from Oak Forrest, Illinois come out on stage and is clearly excited. He makes some small talk and then we see his heartbreaking audition video. In this video, the American Idol audience learns about how he has been engaged to Juliana Ramos. The couple had been together for eight years and was engaged in 2007. The couple had planned to marry in December of 2009 but two months before the wedding she was in a car accident.

The prognosis for Juliana Ramos was not good, but after a month and a half, she emerged from her coma. Chris Medina said he never gave up hope that she would survive. The singer spends his time helping Juliana's mom take care of her, working in a coffee house and singing.

In his audition video Chris Medina reveals when his girlfriend emerged from her coma she was severely handicapped. Doctors diagnosed her with a traumatic brain injury. The photographs of the wheelchair bound woman are shown in the video, which was sent to the American Idol people.

Chris Media sings his song and then the judges ask him to go get his girlfriend. Minutes later, he returns to the stage with a waving Julianne. All three judges leave their seats and come over to talk to them and spoke to the couple.

Judge Steve Tyler of Aerosmith fame gave Miss Ramos a hug and told her, that her boyfriend sang so well because he sang to her. It was a very touching moment on the American Idol stage. Chris Medina was the last performer of the show, and well his segment rocked the world. Even if his singing did not touch your heart, the story of the love he has for his girlfriend surely did.

There is a Facebook Group for Juliana, which is updated regularly by her mom. Juli as family and close friends know her suffered the devastating car accident in the wee hours of October 2, 2009. She sustained a severe skull fractures and many fractures to her face.
