Christian Bale Rant Aftermath Brings Parody and Defenders

Robert Dougherty
Christian Bale's now famous rant on the set of Terminator: Salvation has already gone down in the annals of pop culture. The Bale rant is now right along side Alec Baldwin's phone call to his daughter, and director David O. Russell blowing up on the set of I Heart Huckabees. Now that the Bale rant is up for all to hear on the Internet, Christian Bale will now be tried in the court of public opinion, and parody.

Already, the Christian Bale rant has found a home among late night shows. Most notably, it even became a topic of reference for none other than Rod Blagojevich. In his interview with David Letterman, Blagojevich heard one of his more tame audio tape recordings. Afterwards, he joked that he thought Letterman would play one of the ones that made his sound like Christian Bale.

Bale was also used as a point of reference by Stephen Colbert, as he used Bale's "Hey, it's f****ng distracting!" quote alongside Tom Daschle's defense of not paying his taxes.

Internet users also got a head start in remixing the Bale rant for comedic purposes. Several Bale remixes are already online, as well as some song parodies and a video comparing Bale's rant to the infamous Bill O'Reilly video where he blew up on Inside Edition years ago.

While people are already having their fun with Christian Bale's rant, and getting a head start on making fun of him, a few others are coming to his defense, however.

One of his Terminator: Salvation co-stars, Terry Crews, spoke up for Bale yesterday. Talking to the website HollyScoop.com, Crews defended Bale as "a class act" and "one of the greatest actors ever" saying Bale just had a bad day.

An even more vocal defense of Bale came from one of the Internet's biggest movie names. Harry Knowles of Aintitcoolnews did not post any stories about the Bale rant, and briefly closed comments on the one thread he did post about it.

Knowles came to Bale's defense by backing up the gist of Bale's rant, which was the tweaking and interference by director of photography Shane Hurlbut. Knowles called the incident as being taken out of context, finding the whole thing "disgusting."

But even though Bale may find some new supporters and defenders as the story goes on, the damage has already been done to him by the Internet, the comedy circuit, and his own words.

Christian Bale is a serious actor. So, he flips out sometimes......who doesn't. We all get tired of bullshit sometimes and so, just give him a break.

I liked him in Empire of the Sun. I've heard rumors that some of the anger is towards the director and deflected onto others but this is just a rumor, haven't researched it.

One of the greatest actors ever?
    Give me a break!
The guy is extremely one dimensional, and lacks any degree of class or professionalism.
