Divorce can be an extremely difficult and trying time as married couples decide they should go their separate ways. Many Christians struggle with this decision and take awhile to make a decision, where others make up their minds rather quickly. Some rationalize that God wants them to be happy and does not care if they separate. Others believe that divorce is truly the last resort and that God only wants you to divorce if the relationship is really bad. Whatever your beliefs are, you are probably struggling with the decision and are probably looking for Christian divorce advice. In this article, we'll help you decide whether divorce is the best choice for you. Are you ready? Let's begin.

Understand what divorce entails. When contemplating divorce, you must keep in mind that divorce is a very serious matter. It affects not only the couple but the entire family as well. For instance, if you have children, they will definitely be effected by having parents who live in different homes. Although they can adjust with time, it will take them time to get through the pain and hurt.

Evaluate the situation with fresh eyes. Your first step is to truly figure out if divorce is your only option. Have you prayed for the right answer? Have you asked God for help> Have you tried counseling with a pastor or other trusted church member? Have you separated for a bit? Have you really thought about the issues that drove you and your mate apart?

Focus on the family. If you decide that divorce is your only option, you must focus on your family, especially your kids. They may not understand why their parents are getting a divorce and this could very well lead to behavioral problems or periods of sadness and depression. If this occurs, you definitely should take them to see a therapist and/or counselors that is equipped to handle the needs of "family in crisis". They can help the family members, especially the children, handle their feelings and get through the pain.

Join a Christian support group. There are numerous Christian support groups that you can join specifically for divorced couples. Make sure that you find one and participate in the weekly or monthly sessions. Not only will this help you cope with your feelings but it will make the transition from single to married much easier.

In conclusion, if you're seeking Christian divorce advice, you are not alone. There are many things that you can do to decide if a divorce is your best option. Simply think about your situation, evaluate your options, and if you decide to move forth, focus on healing, By doing this, you can and will get through it one day at a time.
