Christian Drug Rehab Programs

Christian drug rehabilitation centers are run by churches or missions as a part of a community outreach program. These centers use a faith-based approach to helping people detox from drugs and alcohol. The faith-based approach is also used to teach the patient how to live without drugs and alcohol.

Program Type

Most Christian drug rehab centers offer inpatient and outpatient programs. Generally, a patient will start out in the inpatient program, meaning he lives at the rehab center. Once the patient completes the inpatient portion of the program, he will move on to the outpatient portion of the program, meaning he lives at home and goes to the center for meetings and other treatment opportunities. In some cases, a patient may be able to participate in only the outpatient program.Program Length

Program Length

The length of the Christian drug rehab program depends upon the patient's situation. Some patients may spend as little as six weeks in inpatient treatment. Others may need close to two years of inpatient treatment. Intensive outpatient treatment is common immediately after leaving inpatient treatment. As the patient progresses through the outpatient program, the treatment plan usually relaxes and gives him more freedom.

Program Basis

Each Christian rehab program is based on a Bible verse; however, the verse varies from program to program. One example is 2 Corinthians 1:2-7, which states "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Praise to the God of All Comfort. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord." Other passages focus on accepting your faults and God's love.

Program Cost

Christian rehab programs vary greatly in price. Some are free and others cost as much as $6,000 for a 30 day program. Some Christian rehab centers accept insurance plans, offer scholarships or have fees based on income. At most centers, full payment is expected when you check in to the facility.

The price of a Christian rehab program usually includes room and board, a Bible, program materials and treatments, food and basic hygiene necessities. Some programs also include uniforms or clothing needed while in treatment. Most programs include a pre-specified outpatient or follow up program once the inpatient program is completed.

Conclusion

If you are a Christian and believe that God can help you overcome worldly vices and addictions, a Christian rehabilitation facility may be appropriate for you since it will help you to grow spiritually and fully rely on God while you learn to live without drugs.
