The Abundance of the Heart

The Abundance of the Heart

Knowing that words mean things and that words have power to create or destroy, bring life or bring death, why do we so easily speak evil of ourselves?

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. [1]

I am not going to accuse anyone of being evil because they cannot seem to control what comes out of their mouth; that is not the point of this article. The point is the last phrase of the Scripture: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

We have heard so much negativity in our lives, many times from well meaning people, that it seems that is all we know. How can we change what comes out of our mouths? We can simply plant good seed. The more good seed the better. If you want a bumper crop you plant as much of the best available seed as possible. You keep planting the seed as much as possible, and you water and weed the garden. Simply put, you plant the Word of God in your heart and make it yours, just like your name is yours.

You know your name. You don't just know that people call you by your name, but your name belongs to you. Your name is a part of your very being. Nobody can take your name from you, it is yours.

In this same way what the Word of God says about you has to be more than just something you know about. It has to be more than something you agree with. The world has a cheap copy of this; it is called "Positive Thinking". Now "Positive Thinking" is a good thing. It is vital to many being successful. Keeping a positive mental attitude about yourself and the outcome of the things you have set in your heart to do is a very good thing. However, it pales in comparison to making what the Word of God says about you as much a part of your heart and being as your name is. This is not just very strongly agreeing and thinking positively, or mental assent. This is making God's Word the sole arbiter of who you are, and making it a part of you.

When you regularly plant God's Word in your heart it will grow. The more you plant, the bigger the crop. The more often you plant, the more often you will get a harvest. You start planting what God's Word says about you on a regular basis, say once a day, and continue to do so you will eventually notice that you don't always blurt out something negative about yourself or your situation. In time you will have planted enough of God's Word in your heart that it becomes abundant and pretty much the only thing that does come out of your mouth.

When you read what God's Word says about you out loud you are sending God's Word out. Just as when God said, "Let there be light" or more accurately "Light be" His Word went forth and made it happen. When you speak God's Word you are agreeing with God and His Word and releasing His Word into your life. You have released God's Life into your life and your situations.

Speaking this Word, with the power words have, and the life they carry and bring to you, please meditate upon, dwell upon and let the following Scripture sink into your heart until the next Christian Identity article (bold emphasis added).

6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off. [2]

Let us prepare to make God's thoughts about us our own thoughts and begin living up to the awesome potential our Omnipotent Creator built into us.
