Christian Leader William J. Murray: Son of Atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair

Murray Wants to Tell of the Hope He Finds in Jesus Christ

Imagine you are a little child again. How would you feel if your mother ran a business and often hired convicted murderers to work for her and was proud of it? Suppose one of the convicts working for your mother stole a large amount of money from her business. Imagine she also cheated on her Federal Income Tax, stole from her own organizations, and printed phony stock certificates, in an attempt to take over other atheist companies. How would you feel if your mother often spent her days in an X-rated movie theater, was the only woman in the theater watching the movies, and boasted about her attendance? Suppose she was even proud to write articles for pornographic magazines. Do you think you would ever want to invite one of your friends home for a meal?

William Murray, a devout Christian, and the son of the late famous atheist Madalyn Murray O'Hair, doesn't have to imagine. The founder of the Christian ministry, The Religious Freedom Coalition, makes these charges about his mother on his official website, http://ww.wjmurray.com. He claims the charges are true, based upon personal knowledge. Although he expressed regret in his belief that his mother never became a Christian before her murder, he nevertheless claims she "led many to hell. That is hard for me to say about my mother, but it is true."

William J. Murray, a Christian, who now works to share his faith with others, protect religious freedom in the United States, and seeks to help persecuted Christians in other countries, made other charges about his mother in his hardcover book, My Life Without God. In it he remembers growing up in a family in which arguments at his house when he was a little boy centered on why anyone who believed in God, including Christians and Jewish people were morons. He claims watching his mother grabbing a ten inch knife and starting toward William's Uncle Irv and his grandfather, Madalyn's father, before Irv disarmed her. That incident allegedly occurred after Madalyn had thrown a number of plates at Irv. William Murray also remembers being forced by his mother to distribute Socialist tracts at a shopping center when he was only nine. He has also publicly stated that he remembers one day when Madelyn Murray O'Hair tried to defect to the Soviet Union, when it was still dominated by the Communists. Before her death, O'Hair said she would never forgive her son for his newfound Christian convictions.

"One could call this a postnatal abortion on the part of a mother, I guess; I repudiate him entirely and completely for now and all times...he is beyond human forgiveness,"she said as reported on the website, www.wikipedia.org.

Today, William Murray, who renounced atheism and accepted Jesus Christ as Savior lives to tell others about the hope they can have in Him and that atheism is a dead end road. He wants them to know he believes there is a Savior, Jesus, God's Son, Whom he believes died and rose again to give a home in heaven and the forgiveness of sins to believers. He also seeks to halt the erosion of religious freedom in the United States and help the persecuted church in other countries. He also made warnings about the possibility of terrorism in America before September 11, 2001. He has shared his story in churches, county fairs, and other places in America and other countries.

The Religious Freedom Foundation has been involved in other issues. His organization has fought against abortion and homosexual marriage. He founded the first commercial Bible publishing company in the Soviet Union and operated evangelistic tours in that country, to share the news of Jesus Christ. On his website, he also shares news of interest on proposed legislation in the United States and worldwide of interest to Christians for the sake of information, as well as to give opportunities for them to publicly support or oppose such legislation.

According to Murray's website, one man, David Walters, led authorities to the bodies of Madalyn Murray O'Hair and William Murray's brother and sister, Jon Murray and Robin Murray in a field, in return for a promise to spend his time for the killings in a Federal prison, rather than a Texas state prison. In addition, another killer was sentenced to life in prison.

William Murray claims Madalyn Murray O'Hair so dominated the lives of his brother and sister that they never developed a serious relationship with a member of the opposite sex, never married. He claims their whole lives were wrapped around serving their mother and her atheist agenda.

He claims one of the people his mother hired was one of the killers of all three.

Some may wonder how William J. Murray survived the things he went through. He lives now to let others know of the hope he believes they can have in Jesus Christ.

Imagine your mother were alive again. How would she feel about you dragging her through the mud and interpreting everything she ever did in the most cynical possible way?

This is one brave man. And on top of everything else, this poor guy is still having to try and prove to the world that the stupid 20 year old e-mail which keeps going around about his mother trying to stop Christian broadcasting is a fraud! I still get it in my e-mail once in a while.
