When people hear the name Demon Hunter, those who know who they are automatically think Christian, but if you know them well and have followed their music career you also automatically think metal. They are definitely metal and they take this opportunity to reach as many people with the message of Christianity. It is their mission as a matter of fact to spread their faith. At the same time they make sure that they dint seem overtly preachy, which would have the opposite effect.
They listen to other metal music and keep themselves well up on the metal scene. They don't just listen to Christian bands all day. They also listen to lots of classic heavy metal, and that has been a big source of inspiration for them. They do sometimes get labeled as hardcore or metal core which is really not true, they are just metal. They did have some endeavors in hardcore when they were younger.
Demon Hunter does all of their own graphic design themselves, they do all of the layout and design for their album covers. They have a heavy hand in their videos. Demon Hunter also directs all of their own photo shoots. They even go so far as to rarely have stylist around. Now that is one metal band that seems to like to do things themselves.
It seems like all of this would keep them very busy but they have still managed to put out four or five albums a year. They say that what keeps them going is that they love what they do. Demon Hunter loves the whole process of putting out a metal album, from being in the studio, to writing, to designing album covers. They do try not to be on the road constantly like some bands though. They have about about one month that they tour for every album they put out. They do try to stay active when they are not on tour with videos and such.
Some Christian bands claim to be in the business only to share their faith. This is a huge part of it for Demon Hunter but they admit that it also a huge creative outlet for them. But spreading the word of Christianity is the main reason for them putting so much effort in to making it big.
Some Christians look down on metal bands. They seem to think music such as what Demon Hunter puts out is not really music. In fact they seem to get more criticism from Christians about their music than non-Christians. But if it is a way to reach people who might otherwise be unreachable, then the metal band Demon Hunter plans to keep rocking.
