Christian Views on Homosexual Marriage, Just in Case You Weren't Sure

Today there is a question about marriage in society. Is it right for the same sex marriage? A lot of people ask this question, but what is the Christian standpoint, and what should the world stand point be? There is a clear definition between what marriage is, the origin with the institution of marriage is not world rooted, and a message is stated by do doing this action. What is the right course of action for a "progressive" America?

"The formal declaration or contract by which act a man and a woman join in wedlock; the social institution under which a man and woman establish their decision to live as husband and wife by legal commitments, religious ceremonies, etc." (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/marriage) This is the clear definition of marriage that can be found in any dictionary, this one is from dictionary.com, however... When our laws were written in the constitution and all other state and federal marriage laws, this is the definition that was being used. It was also considered illegal to perform acts of Sodomy which is defined as non-vaginal or anal copulation. Those laws were often referred to as bedroom laws because often, it was an invasion of privacy to prove such laws were broken. The military still holds true to the old traditional sodomy laws. If this is the definition of marriage, then maybe the origins would show something different.

The origin of marriage was started with the Jewish Old Testament belief system which later led up to the Christian belief system. In Genesis chapter 3, it shows that Eve was created to be with Adam, and Adam was to cleave to his wife. The bible is firm about homosexuality too from Leviticus, Corinthians, and Genesis to mention a few books. Marriage was introduced as a Judea-Christian institute, and should therefore follow in suit with its origins. This means, whether you follow the bible or not, marriage should follow in line with its roots, otherwise it can no longer be called marriage, for it is simply a civil union of sorts. To allow same sex marriage would be making a bold statement.

The message stated in same sex marriage would be the final mockery of marriage which was considered to be a holy institution. In fact, civil unions of the sort is so close to what real marriage is that it will be a sign of our society moving closer to same sex marriage. Sodom and Gomorrah was destroyed from such acts, must we follow the same path. I am not teaching hate for the homosexual, I am teaching that we follow the path of tradition that was laid into place by the forefathers of America. There is not any place in history where I have seen same sex marriage because it has always been defined as a sacred commitment between a man and a woman.

The right course for a "progressive" America is to stick with fair tradition when the forefathers wrote the laws. The laws were designed to protect us, and for us to allow same sex marriage would be a mockery of the years and blood shed to make all of the laws. America started out as a Christian nation, and we need to stay with our roots. We can not just change the core laws as we see fit, for that is what unconstitutional means. Same sex marriage will be a pen stroke that may end our constitution and what it stands for because once they start changing the definitions in the constitution, why would anyone stop there. The laws must be judged by the constitution and the definitions used at the time of creation. This is how a "progressive" America will succeed and stay a strong America. The constitution is what makes our government one that is for the people and by the people.

To be honest with you, at the time of the constitution being created all they knew was hate for homosexuals, so surely in today's day and age where we have a "fair" society, surely we could look at changing things, it really isn't going to destroy America, I mean come on can you honestly say that in your experience you know of all of the constitutional bills to have actually been implemented? What about freedom of speech, we're a bit lacking in that department aren't we?

I think you are a little confused about the history of your 'religion'. I think you need to do a little more reading. http://www.towardfreedom.com/home/content/view/828/54/
