Have something to say about your walk of faith but don't know how to say it? Here is your answer. The first annual FaithWriters conference will be held August 10-12, 2007 in Detroit Michigan. It is for anyone who is or would like to be writing for Christian faith publications. Among the featured panel of speakers at the event will be Sally Stuart, author of numerous books, including the annual "Christian Writer's Market Guide.

You do not need to be affiliated with FaithWriters or to have previously published with them. I stumbled upon this great conference and have never written for them. You simply need a message that you want to share.

The following workshops are being promoted as part of the conference:

1. "Trends in Christian Publishing:" Examines the trends of among publishers that can make or fail a book. This is taught by Sally Stuart

2. "Writing Humor is a Funny Business:" Teaches how to use humor in your writing, including some industry secrets. This is taught by Rev. James L. Snyder.

3. "Are You Ready to be Published?" A look at the process of getting published, including a check list and guide you in the right direction. Taught by Deb Porter.

4. "Freelancing - The Spider and the Fox: How to find, capture, and retain clients in a competitive world:" Offers practical advice on how to get clients and stay competitive in today's freelance writing world. Taught by Cori Smelker

5. "Writing the Perfect Query Letter:" Demonstrates the essential qualities of a great query letter. Taught by Sally Stuart

6. "Nuts and Bolt of Grammar:" Take a refresher course on the basics of grammar, citations and other technical things every writer should know. Taught by Sally Stuart

7. "Writing to be Performed:" Offers practical advice for those who write pieces to be performed by inspecting the actor's mind, the director's eye, and the producer's vision. Taught by David Ian.

8. "Could Someone Please Remind Me Why I'm Doing This?" Offers encouragement for any writer who wants to write religious markets but gets discouraged from time to time. Taught by Deb Porter.

The workshops appear to offer something for everyone, no matter what level of writer you are.

Seen as leaders in their fields, the speakers at the unique conference should not disappoint. They include:

1. Sally Stuart has authored numerous Christian books, including the annual "Christian Writer's Market Guide." This book is considered a must-have by most writers in the Christian writing market. It serves as the "Writers Guide" to all publishers in the Christian industry.

2. Deb Porter is an Aussie-based published writer and gifted speaker. Listeners will find her both knowledgeable and enjoyable as she shares her insights about the publishing industry.

3. Rev. James L. Snyder is the pastor of the Family of God Fellowship in Silver Springs, FL. He also hosts a weekly radio program.

4. David Ian: is a professional actor, director, and artistic media producer.

5. Cori Smelker is a freelance writer and administrator for Prophetic Life Ministry, a Christian Ministry located in San Antonio.

Registration is $75 before July 1 ($80 after). You can register for the conference at http://www.faithwriters.com/conference.php

The location of the conference will be at the Radisson Hotel in Livonia, MI (a suburb of Detroit). The Radisson is located at 17123 N Laurel Park Drive in Livonia. A block of hotel rooms has been reserved for the conference at the Radisson. The cost for the room will be $89 per night.

The conference also has additional time for fellowship for the participants. Friday, August 10 will include an informal dinner for those interested. Additionally, Sunday, August 12 will allow all who wish to participate in informal sightseeing in the metro Detroit area. The meat of the conference, however, appears to be on August 11.

So step out on faith, and attend this conference in August. Not only could you learn valuable information to improve your writing and marketing, you might also meet people in the industry just like yourself.
