Christina Aguilera Keeps Gettin' Better - a Decade of Hits Early Album Review

Is Keeps Gettin' Better - a Decade of Hits Just Another Greatest Hits Album?

The Reviewer
Greatest hits albums are never the easiest task to pull off. Most of your original fan base already has all the artist's albums so it has to include something more. Christina Aguilera is the latest artist to tackle the greatest hits genre with Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits. The first single off of Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits is the title track Keeps Gettin' Better. The track is produced by Linda Perry and features a co-writing credit for Christina.

Genie 2.0 is a remake of one of Christina's biggest songs Genie In A Bottle. The track is an interesting take on the original. The song has a more melodic and techno sound to it unlike the original.

You Are What You Are (Beautiful) is a remake of another of Christina's biggest hits Beautiful. This track is fairly similar to Genie 2.0. However the track is much better done and interesting.

Dynamite is another electro-pop sounding song. The track is fairly similar to the other fare found on the album. However this track has different harmonies and has a fairly interesting melody.

Beside all four new tracks, the album also features all of the Christina Aguilera classics that you expect from a greatest hits compilation. The other classic tracks on the album are Genie In A Bottle, What A Girl Wants, I Turn To You, Come On Over (All I Want Is You), Nobody Wants To Be Lonely featuring Ricky Martin, Dirrty featuring Redman, Fighter, Beautiful, Ain't No Other Man, Candyman, Hurt, and Lady Marmalade featuring Pink, Mya and Lil Kim. One of the big omissions is Christina's classic Reflection from the movie Mulan.

It is hard to believe that it has been a decade since pint-sized vocal powerhouse Christina Aguilera hit the music scene by storm. One can easily say she is one of the most talented vocalists of this musical era. Overall Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits is a solid album if you do not have all of Christina's incredible catalog. The new songs on the album however do not add much to the album whatsoever. Overall Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits gets 8.5 out of 10 for the classics and 6 out of 10 for the new tracks. If you are a fan of Christina Aguilera make sure you pick up Keeps Gettin' Better - A Decade Of Hits when it is available in stores on November 11th.
