Christina Aguilera and Matthew Rutler Arrest Details
The Couple was Taken into Custody After the LAPD Pulled Their Car Over Around 2:45 Am
According to a report, the "Genie in a Bottle" songstress was "severely intoxicated" when the LAPD pulled over the car she was riding in around 2:45 am this morning. Us revealed that Rutler had been driving erratically, and such was the reason for the stop.
The police report stated that Christina "was not able to care for her safety and no one was available to ensure her safety... so she was taken into custody."
"She (Aguilera) was not involved in any criminal activity and will be released when she can safely care for herself," the report added.
Aguilera was booked on a charge of misdemeanor public intoxication. Meanwhile, Rutler was also arrested for driving under the influence. His bail was set at $30,000.
A source close to Aguilera told press that the singer has been increasingly out of control as of late. "Her friends are fed up. She's really spiraling. I would be shocked if she's not in rehab in the next month or so."
The newest issue of Us Weekly highlights the singer's latest drunken antics, naming a booze-filled night of crying at L.A. club The Dime as one example of her downward spiral. There's also mention of an embarrassing incident which occurred in early January, namely when Christina passed out in Jeremy Renner's bed during his 40th birthday party.
Aguilera and husband Jordan Bratman split up in September of last year. They currently share custody of their 3-year-old son, Max.
