Christina Aguilera's New Video: She's Not Herself Tonight and If You Don't like it F - You

Magnolia Miller
Christina Aguilera is back and she's looking fabulous for a woman who just gave birth for the first time. Though she is still quite young and for those of us who have given birth when we weren't quite young, young is definitely easier on the body. Take it from me.

In addition to looking fabulous, Christina's new video, "Not Myself Tonight" also debuted recently and is being touted as something different, over the top sexual and edgy. The only problem with that though is that it's hardly different, it's not over the top sexual and the edgy part has been done over and over and over again already. Think Madonna circa 1980's and you've seen everything in Christina's new video.

Christina is no stranger to sexual videos for those of us who remember "Dirrty" and "Lady Marmalade," so I'm a little confused as to why we are supposed to think this is not vintage Christina. The only difference between now and then is that she looks healthier, less dirty and much more polished.

Though I'm not a particular fan of Christina Aguilera, I've always noted the girl's vocal chops. Out of the Mickey Mouse gang that spawned Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake and that cutie pie Ryan Gosling, among others, Christina is the only one with a serious singing voice. If you have your doubts, check out her big band boogie woogie "Candy Man."

She's done well for herself and has managed, unlike our dear Brit Brit, to keep her life out of the tabloids and her career steady. For that, she deserves some serious props if you ask me. But, other than that, the new video is nothing more than a highly polished, visually appealing rehash of everything you've ever seen Madonna do in the past nearly 30 years, with a little bit of Lady GaGa thrown in for grins. Ho hum.

In the race to continually push the envelope, raise the bar and reinvent oneself in the music industry to remain relevant, I think musical artists are rapidly running out of things to say or do. Jaded that I am I suppose, I find most of today's artists worthy of not much more than a yawn.

Back in the day, when Linda Ronstadt ruled the airways, you could expect a spot light, a mike stand and Linda Ronstadt belting out one tune after another. It was unencumbered and sometimes way too short and sweet. But, when you purchased tickets to hear someone sing, that's what you heard and saw. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Maybe we ought to herald back to those good old days. In an era of over-hyped special effects, bondage whips and chains and gender bending sexuality, it might actually be a breath of fresh air.

In the meantime, you can take a look at Christina's video here. Please be advised there is graphic language and explicit sexuality.

Hi Jody, She seems so much better than today's music. I hate to see her stoop to the levels that she stoops to, but she's pretty unapologetic about it.

Lome, you hadn't heard about this video? Raunchy doesn't begin to cover it. But then, this is where everybody seems to go sooner or later.

I agree with you - Christina is the only one from the Mickey Mouse Club who has a great singing voice. I think that she's just trying to conform to today's music - and her efforts weren't bad. I'm hoping this will be her comeback (she tried not long ago but it didn't seem to work!), but I guess we'll see.

Whoa... what the heck happened to Christina!!! I thought her dirty days were over?? When I clicked on her video, I didn't realize just exactly how explicit it was going o be. I nearly choked on my coffee!! LOL

I don't know, Jillita.....I actually think she has a great singing voice. But, the over the top sexual stuff is getting really old.

When's this girl going to actually SING instead of scream, holler, caterwaul, howl and bellow? Listen to her rendition of the National Anthem when she was only eleven: now THAT'S actual singing. She uses too much melisma, is too histrionic, and all these vocal theatrics disguise her singing talent. Oddly, this style hasn't kept her from success, but it's such a shame that a really good singer butchers every song she sings; leave the wild melisma and hollering to people who CAN'T sing, like Taylor Swift.

Hey Malina! I had my children later in life so I know the body doesn't bounce back as quickly after pregnancy when you're older. I was 34, 37 & 43 when I had my children. I'm still toting a few of those pounds! :D

The age of pregnancey is definitely an issue as to whether the body recovers, recovers quickly or not. I remember when I had my first child at age 19, after a week, I looked like I had never been pregnant: no exercise or any work necessary. When I had my last child, it was still not an issue except I needed a few ab exercises. If I had a child today, Heaven forbid, I would probablky never see my feet again!
