Christina Hendricks Emmys 2010 Fashion Buzz Trumps Loss

Christina Hendricks' Emmys 2010 dress was among the most anticipated. Of course, Christina Hendricks' Emmys 2010 night was about more than her latest fashion statement. Hendricks was actually nominated for an award this time, and was considered among the favorites. Winning the red carpet fashion show is one thing, but being the first Mad Men cast member to actually win an Emmy is something else entirely. However, the Christina Hendricks Emmys 2010 dress got more buzz in the end, since she fell short of the big prize.

Every time Mad Men makes it to the Emmys, the same old things happen. They always win for Best Drama, and their biggest female sex symbol steals the red carpet spotlight. The usual stories about Hendricks' figure, fashion and body image message get retold at every awards show.

For this occasion, the Christina Hendricks Emmys 2010 dress had more of a lavender look. Fans are used to seeing her in red on the red carpet, but she chose a lavender Zac Posen gown with ostrich feathers this time. Naturally, her now famous curves - and other endowments - were on prominent display as usual.

But the outfit was just the prelude to Christina Hendricks' Emmys 2010 night. Unlike the last two years, she was actually among the nominees, for Best Supporting Actress. Ironically, it was an episode that aired during Emmy night 2009 that got her nominated - i.e. the infamous "lawn mower" outing.

Both Hendricks and Elisabeth Moss were pitted against each other, and were considered the co-favorite. However, they might have canceled each other out in the end, as it turned out. For all of Christina Hendricks' Emmys 2010 buzz, The Good Wife's Archie Panjabi - who plays another kind of ambiguous but sexy problem solver - pulled off the upset win.

As such, Hendricks had to settle for being the belle of the red carpet one more time. On the opposite end of the spectrum, fellow Mad Men nominee January Jones was largely bashed for her dress choice. But that is the usual narrative on many levels, as Jones is considered to have the more divisive fashion and character, while everyone flocks to Hendricks and Joan Holloway.

Whether that is for good reasons or not is often debated, although Christina Hendricks' Emmys 2010 night could have been a huge step in the right direction. But with her loss, she and the other Mad Men cast members remain Emmy-less, despite the show's continued triumphs.

Nevertheless, Hendricks and the show still have half of Season 4 left to air, as they try to return again next year.
