Christine O'Donnell and the Tea Party Definitely Played a Part in the 2010 Mid-term Elections

Well as many people know the Tea Party movement came about in reaction to the tax and spend policies of the democrats and Barack Hussein Obama during the two year period since he been in power and the four years the democrats have held the congress. Many people of every race, religion, color, and creed out there were extremely upset that our elected officials were spending like a child with their parent's credit cards. They really came to be a political force after the debates over Obamacare. This was very unpopular and the Tea Party showed that. The results of our 2010 midterm elections show they were right. America did not like the gangster politics that were used in getting Obama a win with that law. I won't go into the history of the tea party movement, but that is a basic idea. They are basically anti-wasteful spending. There is no official one party that represents the Tea Party, but for the most part they are conservative both socially and financially. It is a subject for a separate paper, but there is a strong possibility that the Tea party helped fire conservatives up to retake the House, but costs the Republicans taking the Senate back.

Many democrats like Nancy Pelosi were applauding how the Tea Party could cause problems for the GOP. They were right. Sadly they were in some cases very correct. Conservatives were part of the reason that Arlen Specter decided to leave the Republicans and become a Democrat. This was one of the many things that just fell into place to allow Obamacare to be forced upon the American people. I love the fact that he got beat in his primary as it just makes him look like a crybaby. Liberal Republican Senators Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins both might face strong challenges from the right in the liberal state they are in. I think that will probably result in democrats picking up those two seats and the Tea Party is not intelligent enough to realize it in many people's opinion. It could balance out because I think all the Democrats in Southern States holding senate seats are in very big danger depending on what they do in the next couple years. The ones in places like Montana and South Dakota also are in hot seats as Obama is not popular in those states. If you want to ask anyone what voting against your constituents and American can cost you just ask former Senator Blanche Lincoln. I knew as soon as she voted to move Obamacare foreword that she was a lame duck even before the election. She even tried to backpedal and say she voted against the final version because she did not like reconciliation used. While it is true that she did that she must take (and did pay at the ballot box) responsibility that her initial vote caused the bill to become law. Every democrat and independent in the Senate can and should be held accountable for that.

There was discussion that The Tea Party costs the Republicans in many races they would or could have won. The biggest of these was probably the Senate race in Delaware. Here moderate Republican Mike Castle was defeated in the Primary by Tea Party backed Christine O'Donnell. She had run three times in the last four years for the U.S. Senate and lost pretty bad each time. Overall she seems like a really nice person with a very good character and high morals that are not seen today. She is a really nice looking woman as well. I would put an "application" for husband in if I were single. I have my own conservative little darling though. The problem is there were some problems regarding campaign finances, stupid things she had said in her past like masturbation is as bad as adultery. These coupled with the fact that she is way too conservative for Delaware resulted in her loss. Many democrats and independents voted for Castle, but there were quite a few republicans who voted for Democrat Chris Coons this year. He is a very standard tax and spend liberal and will vote rank and file democrat about as much as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi did. In reality if Mike Castle had won that seat would be Republican. The Tea Party costs the Republicans that race. I am sure she would have fared better in other states, but sadly Delaware has become a pretty pathetic perennial blue state. She has not speculated or ruled out a 2012 run again. Things would have to get really bad for her to win in Delaware. The GOP leader in the state said she "could not be elected dogcatcher". I agree with her on many issues. I am registered a democrat I voted for her and every other Republican candidate this year. The end result was the Chris Coons probably was lucky as hell that Castle was not his opponent. He won the election by roughly 17 points according to CBS news. All of the following election information is taken from CBS News election coverage should anyone be intrested.

Nevada was a much closer election, but should not have been considering the economy in general and how bad it was in Nevada. The state had the highest amount of foreclosures and unemployment in the nation. Obama is really unpopular there these days despite winning the state in 2008 and the healthcare law and challenge of Arizona's immigration law are also not popular at all. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was very unpopular and this was one election that many people thought would go Republican. This pretty much went to pot when the frontrunner Sue Lowden was defeated in the primary by novice Sharon Angle. Angle basically had a media blackout, but did do some debates with him. She hammered away how he was pro-Obama, pro-illegal alien amnesty, pro-tax and spend and anti-America, but it was no use. She had some comments that were taken out of context that many people felt that she wanted to do away with social security and the Department of Education. I think Sue Lowden probably would have won, but Angle really was not a bad candidate and had some good conservative ideas. There has been some talk of possible voter fraud that remains to be resolved. I would not put it past Harry Reid to have done that. I think him losing would have sent the necessary message to Barack Hussein Obama, but Harry Reid won the race. He said people chose "Hope over fear". A very nice looking and conservative former governor of Alaska named Sarah Palin once asked how is hope and change working for everyone. The people spoke on November 2, 2010. The people of Nevada deserve what they get in my opinion as 50% of them were morons and voted for Obama and his socialist agenda in the form of Harry "amnesty at all costs" Reid. There is already speculation of things that are unpopular with America that Harry Reid is going to try to push through a lame duck session of congress. His biggest prize with be amnesty for illegal invaders to our country in the form of the Dream Act. The good guys did pick up a vote against amnesty in Kirk Winning his race in Illinois since it's was a special election. Coons will vote the same as Kaufman did from the Delaware special election and in West Virginia I would like to think Manchin will vote with the people of West Virginia and against Amnesty like the late Robert Byrd often voted with the people of America on this issue. It looks like Manchin has betrayed West Virginia though and will vote for the Dream act and against the American people and the will of West Virginia. (CBS news 11/3/10)

Now Colorado is a rather tricky race to call. Here you had Michael Bennett who was appointed to the seat after Senator Ken Salazar took a position within the Obama administration. Jane Norton was the establishment candidate and Buck was the Tea Party backed candidate. It appeared that Norton would match up much better against Bennett, but the Tea Party candidate was selected in Buck. Personally I thought that with Bennett being a step and fetch liberal and votes on Obamacare would harm him. In the end of this one Senator Bennett was able to escape with a 1% margin of victory in a state that is getting anti-Obama and the state does have some problems with illegal immigrants. I would not be surprised by voter fraud here. I do believe though that Bennett got a benefit of the doubt by the people. Sadly he will remain a blank check for Obama. I was greatly pleased that Obamacare vote changer from no to yes Rep. Markey was defeated in the 4^th district. Colorado did not really go democrat they just held a seat. Good patriotic people voted out two blank check democrats in the House. I think despite some thinking the Tea Party blew it here that it could have gone either way with either republican on the ticket. This election was decided by about 15,000 votes according to realclearpolitics.com and was one of the most expensive in the country. Obama's boy won and he is a blank check for the Obama agenda including rewarding criminal illegal invaders to our country. He stated he did not care if his vote for Obamacare cost him the election. Sadly it did not. I don't feel sorry for the people of Colorado. They handed the socialist in the house formerly known as the white house a puppet vote.

Now on to much better news. The Tea Party candidates were able to pick up some victories. Rand Paul was victorious in Kentucky with 58% of the vote despite efforts to make him out to be a racist and every other tactic the liberals could use to make him look bad. He begged Obama to come to Kentucky to campaign for Democrat Jack Conway. I was not aware of him doing such as he is not very popular down south. This was a clear conservative victory and Rand Paul will probably have a very long Senate career. Pennsylvania was also a Republican pickup. Pat Toomey fought a very close race against ultra liberal Joe Sestak. I think this stayed in part close because of Admiral Sestak's military service. He voted like the rank and file liberals that many people kicked out of the House of Representatives in their districts in Pennsylvania including the one Sestak stepped down from to run for senate. In Wisconsin Russ Feingold lost by 4% of the vote to conservative Tea Party Republican Ron Johnson. This was a race that I thought would be much tighter, but I think people started looking in the mirror in that state. Most people have not seen the significance of liberal Wisconsin electing an extremely conservative Republican Marco Rubio also had a huge win in a three way race in Florida with around 20% of the vote. He ran against Democrat Kendrick Meek and Republican governor turned independent Charlie Crist. I think Marco Rubio will be another longtime republican mainstay in the senate and might actually go on to higher office. All of the results referenced are from CBS news and Realclearpolitics.com. I would also call them common knowledge now.

The Tea Party has defiantly reshaped American politics. Even though I think they cost the Republicans at least two seats in the senate they clearly helped win the House of Representatives and thus may be able to slay the monster that is Obamacare. I really think the Tea party does need to use common sense though. Having a candidate that is able to win a general election is much more important than just winning a primary. It does no good to nominate an ultra conservative over Olympia Snowe in Maine is they stand no chance of winning. I would like to see a much more conservative senator than Snowe, but I would take her over any democrat from that part of the country. She had helped the people of the country on clear votes like against Obamacare and blocking the Dream Act from being snuck in. Right now I will give a lean that the Tea party will hurt republicans in the Senate, but help them keep the House. The problem will arise in 2012 with President. I think the Tea party needs to realize that nominating someone who has no chance to win against Barack Obama does not make sense. The key goal of every conservative should be to make that (insert the adjective of your choosing here. I like socialist) Obama a one term president. The thought of him getting another justice on the Supreme Court should scare any American who values our freedoms.
