Christine O'Donnell and Witchcraft -- Wicked, Wacky or None of the Above?

Bill Maher Airs O'Donnell's Dirty Laundry

Christine O'Donnell and witchcraft have come to the surface thanks to Bill Maher, as reported at CBS. The liberal talk show host of Real Time with Bill Maher said, "I have 22 episodes, Christine. If you're watching, I created you. You need to come on this show. If you don't come on this show, I'm going to show a clip every week. I'm the only one who has them." Christine O'Donnell, a Tea Party favorite and the Delaware Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, who was helped with the support of Sarah Palin, is shown saying that she dabbled in witchcraft in a 1990's clip on Bill Maher's former Politically Incorrect.

Can a party with a large backing of Christian fundamentalists support an O'Donnell?

"I dabbled into witchcraft -- I never joined a coven," says Christine O' Donnell. "I hung around people who were doing these things. I'm not making this stuff up. I know what they told me they do. . . . "If you are a Christian fundamentalist, one of the things you definitely do not support is witches or witchcraft. It is akin to worshipping the Devil and is antithetical to your belief in God and Jesus Christ. So, if you are also a Republican, can you support Christine O'Donnell and her witchcraft past? Christians profess that if you give yourself to the Lord, you're supposed to be forgiven. A Christine O' Donnell who is a Christian, against pre-marital sex, homosexuality and abortion, is no longer dabbling in witchcraft. Therefore, does her witchcraft past matter?

Christine O'Donnell and her witchcraft past may be the least of her problems

There's more than witchcraft when it comes to Christine O'Donnell. Forget comments made over 10 years ago. Forget very conservative values that could turn off more moderate Delaware Republican voters. Ethics complaints are considered far more problematic.

According to CBS, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) recently filed complaints against O'Donnell for alleged use of $20,000 in campaign funds for personal use. Said CREW director Melanie Sloan, "Ms. O'Donnell has spent years embezzling money from her campaign to cover her personal expenses. Republicans and Democrats don't agree on much these days, but both sides should agree on one point: thieves belong in jail not the United States Senate."

I am trying to figure out why she was on politically incorrect 15 years ago. Was she in politics at a young age, was she a comedian? Was she trying to get famous? I'd love a follow up article Jolie.
