Lumpkin County---"Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration in Dahlonega"---Beginning the first week in December, the town of Dahlonega will hold its annual "Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration" in the Historic Town Square. The entire downtown square will be aglow with colorful holiday lights, decorations, and a huge Christmas tree in the middle of the square. This event is not only one of the best in the North Georgia Mountains, but was also selected as one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top 20 Events for December in 2004.
Murray County--- If you enjoy touring old homes, you'll want to check out the Cherokee Indian Tour. Come for a "Christmas by Candlelight" as you tour one the finest restored homes of a Cherokee Indian family of the 1800s. This 19th-century home is adorned in a Moravian fashion, complete with Christmas garland, as well as 19th century Christmas ornaments and more than 300 candles. Cost is $2.50 - $4.00. Canton, Georgia---Visit the home of Old Saint Nick. If you're tired of malls with all their commerciality, but want you kids to sit on Santa's knee, then take them to south Canton where they can visit with Santa in an charming setting. Beginning in late November and continuing until Christmas Eve, Santa Claus will be meeting with children of all ages outside his home. Here both parents and their kids can leave the world of 2007 and be transported to a Christmas wonderland of yesteryear. Not only will they meet Santa Claus, but Mrs. Claus as well. What's more, visitors can tour Santa's house, which is adorned with an assortment of different Santas. While the kids tell Santa want they want for Christmas, Mom and Dad can take a trip back in time, touring the enchanted home of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Dads, who are addicted to trains, will love studying the elaborate electric train set display, which includes a waterfall and an old-fashioned Christmas village. For the moms, there's Santa's dinner table, as well as a canning closet. Moms will also enjoy the decorative bedrooms, all decorated for Christmas. The address is 6951 Vaughn Drive in Canton. Towns County---"The Neal McCoy Christmas Show," (along with The Session Band) will be held on December 8 at 7 PM at the North Georgia Fairgrounds in beautiful Hiawassee, Georgia. A country music icon, Neal McCoy has made trips to Iraq, Afghanistan and any other foreign land where our troops have needed a reminder of home. Tickets are $25. A few of his tops hits (which have sold millions) include "Whole Lotta Love" and "YMCA". Come out and see this country music super star, in person, treating yourself to a holiday event you won't forget.
"Always Christmas"----Also in Towns County, you can pick up some unique Christmas decorations and gifts at the "Always Christmas" holiday store, located at 715 North Main Street. Nestled in the beautiful mountain village of Hiawassee, Georgia, "Always Christmas" is the largest Christmas store in northeast Georgia.
