Once you have purchased these items you are ready to make your Christmas angel craft. Now the fun begins. Below I am going to give you step by step directions on how to make your angel.
How to make your angel
The first thing that I would like you to do is to make the angel's arms. This is the most difficult part of the project; so hang in there it gets easier. The finished size of the arms are going to be approximately 2 ½ to 3 inches long. Your arms are going to look like hotdogs. So basically what I want you to do is to cut your fabric into long oval shapes. Make sure that the length of the arm is 3 inches. Each oval shape is also going to be approximately 1 inch wide. The reason for this is that you are going to be folding the arm in half. Do this now. Take your needle and thread and sew up the bottom and side of the arm. Leave the top unsown. When you have finished sewing the arm I want you to pull the inside of the arm to the outside. The purpose of this is so that your sewing does not show. Once you have the arm turned you are going to take your cotton batting and stuff the arm. Make it as plump or thin as you would like. Just make sure that both arms look the same. When you are happy with your arm you can close the top of the arm with your needle and thread. Make sure to do close stitches so that no one can notice your sewing.
Glue on the angel's hair and create a beautiful face for her on the doll head. Some doll heads already have faces if you would like to go that route. You can find these at your local craft store.
The next step that you are going to do is to take your wooden doll head and hot glue it to the wooden block. The wooden block represents the angel's body.
Take the arms that you have created and glue them to the very top of the block; right next to the head.
Take your lace and glue it where the doll's chin would be; when you reach the angel's arms go underneath of them where her armpits would be. Continue gluing the lace around the doll. You are going to glue the lace to itself not the wooden block. This is making a dress. Make the lacy dress as long as you would like.
Now we are going to make her some wings. You can create the wings as small or as large as you would like. Cut a piece of wire approximately 12 inches long. Bend the wire into the shape of wing. Make two of these. Take your tulle and cut it into the shape of the wings. Hot glue the tulle to the wire. The wire is to give the wing stability. Glue the wings to the back of the angel's dress. Make sure that the wire goes towards the dress and that it does not show on the back side.
When you have finished your creation you will see that you have a beautiful sitting angel. If you would like you can make a halo from your wire or you can put some flowers in her hair. She is such a beautiful angel. As I have stated before, once you make one of these beautiful Christmas angels you will want to make many more of them.
