Christmas Birthdays for Your Child: How to Celebrate Both

Sanity Rose
One of the biggest drags or cruelest jokes to a child is having a birthday on Christmas. Children do not recognize any symbolism and spiritual beauty. No, they recognize less presents on their birthday. Splitting the present pot is a common tradition among Christmas birthday gift givers. Though the weather, the income, and the people willing to slow down this season may not work in your favor, they can still have a great birthday. To insure a better Christmas birthday experience for your little one, there are few simple steps to follow.

Whether you choose to celebrate a few days before, or on Christmas day, let the day be theirs. Try to hold off Christmas parties, dinners, or celebrations until after the birthday celebration. Make sure one room of the home is undecorated with the Christmas cheer, and dedicate that room only to your little ones favorite party theme. Keep out the Christmas time music or Christmas movies. Dedicate one-half of the day to them, either the morning, or the afternoon, and make sure the whole family is present.

Make sure you do not spit gifts. A child would rather have more small inexpensive gifts for the two holidays, then a few large ones given evenly for each celebration. Feel the stockings and line the tree, but make sure their gifts are separate and add up to the same amount they would get in June or October.

Never wrap with Christmas paper. A child can become resentful of all things Christmas on their special day. Making sure that their paper is special and unique will allow them to know you see them, and their birthday, as a separate special day.

Since Christmas will be filled with turkey or ham, potatoes, and yams, make their dinner special. Whether it is their favorite super gooey pancakes for breakfast or cheesy fries for dinner make it a special birthday boy/girl birthday meal.

You can hold off all decorations until after you celebrate your child's birthday. Many families still follow the tradition of decorating the tree and hanging the wreaths on the day of Christmas. Make the moment fun! Imagine how much more seasonal and joyful it will be to decorate after all the stress of shopping is done!

Have an after Christmas birthday party! Let's face it , many of today's children are resourceful and full of wit. Letting a child double their birthday present stack, by hitting after Christmas sales, may tantalize them a great deal. Take them out to eat and to a movie matinee after, to make the day more special. They can even take the time to return those oversized pants or outdated sweaters while they are there.

You can also allow your child to choose another part of the year for their birthday. Maybe mom or dad would like to share theirs with them. This way they are able to have a party with many family and friends. Besides, little ones just love the idea of aging twice as fast. Just make sure they get one special gift again for their birthday, on Christmas day.

If you decide to incorporate, the two occasions here are a few theme ideas:

(Child's Name) Workshop can be a wonderful place where your child's friends to visit Santa at your home. With Santa as the guest of honor, your child will be the talk of Christmas town. Rent a suit and decorate a portion of the home with your child's favorite character, decked out for the season. Incorporate Christmas pinata with birthday favors inside.

Plan a party at your child's favorite hang out, before Christmas. If you time the party with the schools vacation, you will be sure to have a larger guest list. Encourage party-goers to buy the birthday girl a card only with a special poem or letter inside as a surprise. This way, your child gets attention and the gift giver gets a financial break at Christmas time.

To teach a special child the special gift of Christmas, allow her to have a party a few weeks before, but donate all given presents. Have your child's friends bring small gifts for all ages, boy or girl, and take them all to donate them to a local charity. Your child will have the families wonderful birthday and Christmas presents. She will also share an amazing act with her favorite family and friends.

Have a full-blown Christmas party for adults, with an ongoing birthday party for children in room two. Invite all the children , family ,and a few pets if you like, and let them party in style. Decorate with your child's favorite hero or princess and bring the cake and party to them. When it is time for them to celebrate Christmas with the family, invite them into the next room and begin partying all over again.

Whatever you decide to do, do not allow the day to add extra stress to the season. Do not take from their day, but do not take from Christmas either. Let the season be one of joy, and allow the child to fill like the king or queen of the day. Let them hand out the presents, serve the special drinks, choose the movie to watch or pick the game to play.

Happy Birthday Christmas Season to All!

  • Make sure Christmas dinner and birthday dinner is two separate events.
  • Never wrap birthday gifts with Christmas paper.
  • Let your child be the king or queen of the day.
