Although some people may not think highly of the 1980s, they were actually a great period for the production of Christmas movies. From the comedic to the dramatic, from the laughter-inducing to the heart-warming, these Christmas movies from the 1980s make for a great way to spend a chilly December evening.
"Prancer"
If you have ever wondered what it's like to take care of one of Santa's reindeer, you should watch this film, in which a young girl takes care of an injured reindeer she is convinced belongs to the man in red himself. Her father, however, remains unconvinced.
"Prancer" is an exploration of the bonds of family loyalty and a desire to save the reindeer. Since it was made in the 1980s, however, you can rest assured it has a happy ending, making for great viewing for anyone.
If you're in the market for a more adult-oriented Christmas viewing experience, try this comedy starring two of the greatest comedians of all time, Dan Ackroyd and Eddie Murphy. It features the usual hijinks of a 1980s comedy, including a case of switched identities, and it is easily one of the funniest movies made during that period. It also features a stunning supporting cast, including Jamie Lee Curtis as a prostitute with a heart of gold.
This story, which features the childhood trials of Ralphie and his efforts to get a pellet gun for Christmas, is full of all the joy you can imagine from a film from the 1980s. There are times when you find yourself laughing out loud at the adventures of Ralphie, making for good watching for both children and adults. With its genuine warmth and love of the season, this film definitely deserves its place among the Christmas classics.
