Christmas Clothes You Never Wanted

These Are the Gifts that You Want to Re-wrap as Soon as Opening Them

Sometimes it can be really great to get clothes from a family member, a boyfriend, a friend, or even your mother. But most of the time, it is not good. Unless you're a princess or you only buy Armani suits, you probably have your own distinctive taste that no one else understands. This is why receiving clothes from someone who doesn't know your style can hurt straight to the heart.

Having your own personal style is great and up until the time you're a teenager your mother or father usually helps you decide what that personal style is at Christmas. But once you hit 12 or 13 you're looking at that flowery sweater or blue plastic boots with a little less happiness. If you're a parent or a gift giver, here are some gifts not to thinks about for next Christmas. And if you gifted these out this year, get your receipts ready for the store.

Clothes that make the "Thanks but that's not my size" list are Turtlenecks, women's jeans, sundresses, bras. These should only be tried on in stores people! Women's jeans are probably the worst gift you can get any women because as any woman can tell you, they have to try on between 5-15 pairs of jeans in a store to find the perfect fit. And most of the time, that doesn't even happen. It's more like trying 3-5 stores. Just because you know someone's size doesn't mean you know what they like. So buying something like a turtleneck, jeans or a bra can be a disaster. The material really tells the truth about the size. So gift cards to a clothing store are always a plus.

Clothes that make the "Thanks but no thanks" list are leggings, jump suits, swim suits, suits. Pretty much anything that's a suit probably won't fit or won't be the right kind of suit for the person. These are also items that should be tried on in a store but also, unless these people are business people, they only need one or 2 suits on hand and don't like getting them because they'll feel obligated to wear them. So lay off the suits people! Oh, and leggings are usually jut ugly and are an impulse buy for anyone.

Clothes that make the "Ok to buy but a specific type" list are t-shirts, hoodies. Picking out a good t-shirt is usually easy as long as they don't have words on them. Or if you know a person likes a certain band or have pointed out a particular t-shirt, you can get them that one. Hoodies are a little different. The small simple kind is good and a neutral color will work. Although color and shade are key. Make sure you know what color the person wears and likes

Tip on clothes for next year - If you want to get clothes for someone, the best thing to do is get accessories. Jewelry is the obvious one, but a hat or a scarf might do. Belts are great fun, so are watches. Anything people can wear with their clothes is a great idea. Handbags and wallets are much more acceptable when it comes to buying clothes and accessories. So don't be discouraged! Remember that gift cards are a great idea and scarves in winter always work.
