Kids of all ages can have fun making construction paper crafts to decorate this holiday season. Included are instructions for three crafts plus links to four other Christmas construction paper crafts for your kids to enjoy.
Construction paper reindeer. This craft is very simple even the youngest kids can enjoy. Simply trace your child's foot (without tracing each toe) and both hands with the fingers spread onto the desired colors of construction paper. Cut out the shapes. You may want to use brown for the foot as it will be the reindeer's head. The hands will serve as antlers.
Glue or tape the base of the hands to the toe part of the foot. Let your child decorate the reindeer with markers, crayons or paint. You can glue a red pom-pom to the heel and make your own "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer".
Construction paper cone trees. This is another easy craft for kids of all ages. Simply trace a circle on a green piece of construction paper. The larger the circle of course makes a larger tree. Cut the circle in thirds, as each circle can make three paper cone trees. Allow your child to decorate the paper with crayons or markers. Your child may even glue small craft items such as sequins or beads onto the piece of paper. Be sure to leave one-half inch down the length of one side undecorated.
After the glue has dried, run glue down the undecorated edge, roll the piece of paper to overlap the glued area. Press in place. You may use paper clips at each edge to hold together until the glue dries. Use circles of different sizes to let your kids make a Christmas tree forest.
Construction paper stocking. Trace the shape of a stocking on construction paper and cut it out. Let your child decorate with crayons, markers or glitter glue. Your kids can put their names on their stockings as well. If desired, you may glue cotton balls along the top of the stocking.
If you have a hard time drawing by hand, you can get this printable Christmas stocking template from First School. You can either print this directly onto colored computer paper, or you may cut the shape out to use as a stencil for construction paper.
