Kids will love making and using this simple Christmas themed book bag. I know a few adults who would love to carry this simple bag to the library with them when they go as well. So. Let the kids get creative decorating and making these easy Christmas themed books bags. They can keep them for themselves or live them away as homemade Christmas gifts to anyone special in their life. To Make This Simple Christmas book Bag You Will Need: 1 Canvas Bag with Handles Christmas ribbon (at least 1 inch wide) Fabric glue or new sew Fabric paint Puff paint Paint Brushes Stamps Ok, so the very first thing to do is to find you canvas bag with handles I find these plain canvas bags in variety of colors at the local arts and craft store all of the time. They are on the same aisle with the sweatshirts, t shirts, and aprons. Now, you should decide what Christmas ribbon you buy based on the size of the handles on your canvas book bag. Most of the handles will be about 2 inches wide. Now, take your ribbon and cu it out so that it can cover the canvas handles on your book bag. These handles usually wrap the length of the sides of the bag as well; so use this as an opportunity to decorate more of the bag with your Christmas ribbon. Use the fabric glue or no sew to adhere the Christmas ribbon the handles anywhere they go. Now, let the kids start using that puff paint and fabric paint to decorate their Christmas book bags. They can dip their hands in brown fabric paint and stamp them on the Christmas book bag to make reindeer heads. Let the brown paint dry before you start adding details like eyes and noses. You can also dip an old tennis ball in some white fabric paint to stamp on the circles of a snowman. The kids can cover this entire Christmas book bag in a winter wonderland of snowmen. Use brown puff paint ot add three dimensional twig like arms! You can also add glitter to the paint while it is still wet! Use felt to cut out scarves for the snowmen. They can be glued on with the fabric glue as well. Kids can also write words on the Christmas themed book bag. They can free hand them or even track stencils of letters ot get uniform or large letters. Simple snowflakes can be added to the book bag with puff paint in white. Make a simple cross with the paint. Now, add an X shape over the cross. Use the puff paint to make small lines off of each line of the snow flake! You can also find great spray on snow at the arts and craft store. Lightly mist it over a finished Christmas book bag to add a realistic snow look. If the kids don't like to draw they can cut out Christmas images from fabric and glue them onto the book bag. I find great Christmas themed fabric at JoAnn Fabrics and Piece goods all the time. They even have cut outs that are meant ot be Christmas dolls that would glue perfectly onto this bag with some fabric glue. Once the Christmas simile is adhered have the kids outlying with puff paint to finish of the edges of the fabric and keep it form unraveling!
