Ideas for Christmas Crafts

Bev Cohen
Making Christmas crafts seems to be synonymous with the holidays! Taking time with your loved ones to create crafts that can be displayed around your home is very fulfilling. Crafts don't have to be difficult. All that is needed is a bit of creativity. Following are some Christmas craft ideas that will make your home all the more inviting during the holiday season.

Pine Cone Basket:

Materials Needed:

Pinecones (from nature or a craft store)

Cotton swabs

Glue

Finely ground cinnamon or nutmeg or both

Basket

Ribbon

Berries

Dab glue on the inside edges of the pinecones using a cotton swab. Sprinkle cinnamon and/or nutmeg on glue and allow to dry. Fill the basket with the pinecones. Using artificial berries, randomly place berries throughout the basket between the pinecones. Tie a bow around the basket handle. What a beautiful addition this scented basket will add to your home during the holidays!

Gumdrop Christmas Tree:

Materials Needed:

Styrofoam cone

Aluminum foil

Toothpicks (kind with point on each end)

Gumdrops or spice drops

Cover the Styrofoam cone with aluminum foil. Cut the toothpicks in half. Stick the cut end of the toothpick into the flat (bottom) side of a gumdrop. Then insert the pointy end of the toothpick into the Styrofoam cone, going through the aluminum foil. Start at the bottom (wider) end of the cone and work your way around the cone and up to the top. Place the gum drops as close together as possible so that no aluminum foil is visible. Finish the gumdrop tree off by placing a gumdrop on the top of the tree. You can use this sweet tree to decorate your house with. Or you can give it as a gift. Wrap it in cellophane so all the pretty colors of the gumdrops are showing. It's edible since no glue was used.

I hope these Christmas crafts are an enjoyable part of your holiday season! As you can see, they are not expensive to make and one of the materials is even available outside in nature!
