What you will need to make Recycled Christmas Card Puppets:
Large stack of various old Christmas cards
Popsicle sticks or craft sticks (plastic straws or any other item that can be substituted)
Kid-safe scissors
Glue
Step One
Go through the stack of Christmas cards and select the ones with you favorite characters on them (i.e. snowmen, reindeer, soldiers, Santa, ect).
Step 2
Once you have selected the characters you want to use for your puppets cut them out. When working with small children you may want to do a quick cut around the character and then allow the children to cut the character out. This way they want be struggling with the whole card while trying to cut out the character.
Step 3
Once you have your characters cut out, place a small dab of glue on one end of a Popsicle stick or craft stick. Place your character on the stick so that the character is on top of the stick.
Make sure that you align them properly so that they will be standing straight up when they are completed. Once you have your character in place carefully flip the character and stick over so that they stay in the same position but the stick is now laying on the character. This will help to ensure that the stick adheres to the character and is flat.
Step 4
Allow the glue to dry completely. Once the glue is dry you know how a Recycled Christmas Card puppet.
Tips:
You can also use the puppets to insert in flower pots, table arrangements and any things else you desire!
You may also want to use others pieces of the cards to create a scene for your puppets. Houses, villages, snow scenes, and other back grounds can be cut out and glued to a large piece of cardboard. For the snow scene you may want to cut out various snow scenes from each card. Collage the snow scenes together as the back ground. Then top it off with a few houses, villages, angels, ect.
How To Make a Table Arrangement Using Your Recycled Christmas Card Puppets:
You can make a table arrangement out of the puppets by taking a bowl or vase and filling with Styrofoam, sand, glass beads or any other filler. Push the puppets down in to the filler. Finish off with greenery, poinsettia leaves, or any things else that goes with your décor.
