Christmas Crafts: Natural Pinecone Angel

Ambrosia Jefferson
Christmas is just around the corner, and with all the shopping and stresses of planning the holidays and the holiday meal everybody needs a way to find a way to relax and have a little bit of fun. For me that is doing some crafts with loved ones, not only can it be soothing to do the crafts but it gets decorating done, and allows me to spend time with those I care about. Now not everyone in the family is as crafty as I am, so I have taken one of my favorite unique and easy craft ideas that anyone can do and am going to share it with you. I hope that your family enjoys the time spent together making this item too.

Materials:
Pine cone (or more than one if you're going to make several)
Doll's hair
Ribbon (wide is best)
A large bead (or again more than one depending on how many of these you're going to make)
Spray paint
Gold ring/Grape vine wreath
Glue
Spray Paint

How To:

1. You will want to make sure that your pine cone is thoroughly cleaned before you do anything else to it. Wipe it down with a slightly damp cloth to get all the dirt and other things off of it.

2. Spray with a little glitter paint this will brighten up your pine cone and give it the angelic shine.

3. Apply glue to the large base end of the pine cone, than apply glue to one side of your large bead. Attach the bead to the base firmly and set aside to dry fully.

4. Once your bead has dried take 1 inch of ribbon and attach it with glue near the base. You will want to pinch the middle while you're gluing, make sure you position the ribbon to look like wings. Again set aside to dry.

5. Now while the materials called for a doll's hair you can use anything you like as hair to fit your creative choices. I have used yarn and Spanish moss as well I just find that small dolls hair works best for me. A little more glue and your hair of choice attach it and set aside to dry.

6. What is an angel without a halo? With the hair dry it is time to attach your Halo, you can use an old gold ring (if you're fancy). Or like me use some grape vine wreath. Make a nice circle, and attach it carefully to the hair.

7. You are almost done now, using the marker you can draw on your face. Eyes, nose and a mouth. Alternatively if you have some felt and would prefer to cut out a small nose, mouth and eyes set you can do that. This is your Angel you can decorate it as you like.

8. One last thing, take another length of ribbon and tie it like a pretty bow around your Angels neck. This bow serves as more than just a pretty decoration, it is also how you can hang your Angel on the tree, or with the other decorations of your choice.
