Christmas Crafts: How to Make a Paper Chain

You Can Learn the Mysterious Secrets of Making a Paper Chain

Barbie Crafts
I've always been a little mystified by paper chains. I never could understand how people would snip and snip and pull out this chain. I am giving you step by step instructions that will decloak the process! I will even tell you how long to make the snips, etc... You can make a paper chain, even if you don't normally do Christmas crafts.

You can do this Christmas Craft with beautiful paper or just white computer printer paper. This is a great kids craft, but I hope they pick it up faster than I did! It took me many years!

Instructions
Things You'll Need:
paper
scissors
tape or glue

Step 1

You need a two inch strip of paper to start with. Of course, you will need more than one to make a long chain. If you fold a piece of computer paper in four long strips, you will have four strips of the correct size for your paper chain Christmas Crafts.

Step 2

Fold a two-inch wide strip in half length-wise. (long-wise)

Step 3

Referring to the diagram in Diagram 1, begin cutting your paper chain. You will make 3/4" long slits up one side around 1/4" apart. Then, working up the other side, make 3/4" long slits between the other cuts.

Step 4

Open the fold of the paper chain. Then, gently tug the ends to open the paper chain. You should have a cathedral window type design in your paper chain. Christmas crafts like this help create memories and Christmas ornaments!

Step 5

After you make your chains, connect them together with tape or glue.

Tips & Warnings

The angel ornament in the photograph is another of my designs. I will include the link in the resources.
