Easy Christmas Crafts Using Construction Paper
This is a great project because the children can add their names to the stockings and they can be displayed in the classroom and later taken home to be placed on their own Christmas tree. To make the project easier, simply draw your stocking template on a piece of plain white paper and load your copy machine with red construction paper. You can then run the template off in bulk and the children can use their safety scissors to cut out their own stocking. Once the stocking is cut out, the construction paper stockings can be decorated with glitter or glue on gems. The children can add a few pieces of cotton to the top of the stocking to add some detail and their names can be written in glue and glitter added to make them more memorable. This same process can also be used with for other construction paper craft projects such as a wreath on green paper or a snow man on white paper. With a little bit of imagination, the possibilities are endless.
Plastic Christmas Bulbs
Clear and colored plastic Christmas bulb type ornaments can be purchased at most any craft store. It is best to look for the plastic bulbs for this age group to insure their safety. When purchasing bulbs, make certain that the metal top and hanger part are not glued on. If clear bulbs are purchased, the children can add some confetti or colored construction paper to the interior of the bulb or glue small pieces of colored tissue paper to the exterior with a clear white glue. These are especially pretty when the lights on the Christmas tree shines against the bulb, it closely resembles stained glass. If colored bulbs are purchased, the children can draw a design in glue and glitter can be added. They can add a holiday message or even their names. Another idea is to use embellishments such as colored jewels that can easily be glued to the bulb.
When it comes to doing Christmas crafts with preschoolers it is important to let their individual creativity shine. Even if it is not to your likings, don't try to correct or tell them how to make their project better. No matter how it looks, they will be proud of theiraccomplishments and their parents will have a keepsake for many years to come.
