Pipe Cleaners or chenille stems
White glue
Glitter
Scissors
Pencil or tracing pen
How to make a Recycled Christmas Cards and Bottle Cap Ornament:
Step 1:
Start with by cleaning your bottle caps. Make sure they have no dust, dirt, or residue from their previous use. IMPORTANT: If using bottle caps from prescription bottles, be sure to wash them thoroughly to insure the safety of those touching the caps. Once bottle caps are washed allow them to dry completely.
Step 2:
Go through the Recycled Christmas cards and pick out your favorite designs, characters, and images. Once you have decided on what images to use, pick a bottle cap that is close to the same size. Make sure that the recycled bottle cap is big enough to hold then entire image.
Once you have selected the image and the bottle cap, place the bottle cap directly over the image, and trace around the bottle cap with your pencil. Once you have traced the recycled bottle cap, remove it and cut out the image by cutting out just inside the line on the pattern that you traced on to the recycled Christmas card. (You don't want to cut directly on the line or it will hang over slightly.)
Step 3:
Once you have your image cut out, place a small dab of glue on the top of the bottle cap. Press the image on to the recycled bottle cap and smooth out any lumps from the glue.
Step 4:
Take a piece of pipe cleaner and wrap it around the edges of the bottle cap so that it creates a border. Twist the top ends together to hold the pipe cleaner in place. Then take one end of the pipe cleaner and create a loop which will extend back to the bottle cap. Twist the end of the loop with the other end and cut off any excess. If you the bottle cap you are using has a very slick surface, you may want put a few drops of glue on the cap to secure the pipe cleaner.
Allow the glue to dry completely before hanging.
