Christmas in December

Matthew Shively
Christmas is the best time of the year
Snow falling, icicles forming, and everyone full of cheer
Children laughing and playing in the snow
Throwing snowballs as their cheeks glow

The parents inside watching through the window
Drinking hot coco, cuddling tight beneath a warm throw
No worries in mind, with the crackling of a fire nearby
Reminiscing of childhood and creating snow angels outside

Christmas tree brilliantly lit
Presents underneath, some big and some small, sit
Patiently waiting till the big day to be unwrapped
Inside each your wishes trapped

The spirit of Christmas so strong
Carolers outside singing along
Volunteers helping together to help feed
Donations through the roof for those that need

Christmas is truly the best time of year
May you be blessed this season and family be near
Take a moment to remember
The best time of year, Christmas in December

Even though it is in the 70s here today, I feel ready for Christmas - just by reading your poem!
