Plan the Christmas color combinations that will be used for your holiday decor both inside and out. Set a realistic budget for your Christmas decorating. Take all your Christmas decorations out of storage. Make sure that all the lights work, and check to see if you have any broken Christmas ornaments. This will give you time to replace the ornaments if they are broken or cracked.
If you plan to make some of your Christmas decorations, purchase all supplies necessary to start your decorating projects. Have a glue gun, scissors, ornament hooks, hammer, and nails available when it comes time to start your Christmas decorating. Keep these supplies in a box or a craft box, and label it Christmas supplies.
The next thing you want to do is clear out the clutter in the room where your Christmas tree will be placed. Make sure to put away extra furniture, tables, and figurines to make room for your holiday decorations.
Decide on whether you want an artificial or real Christmas tree. Then decide where you are going to place your Christmas tree. Once that is decided, measure your space to make sure you purchase the right size Christmas tree. Purchase any necessary Christmas tree decorations needed for your Christmas color combination.
Start decorating the outside of your house right after Thanksgiving. Hang your Christmas lights on the outside of your house. Place a Christmas light in each window, then hang your Christmas wreath on your door. Decorate your lawn and porch with Christmas decorations that match your Christmas color combinations that you have chosen.
Decorate your Christmas tree, and the inside of your house. If you love how your Christmas decorations look, take a picture. This will help you duplicate the look for Christmas next year. In a notebook write down what worked, and what didn't work when getting these tasks done.
Being organized and having a checklist can help fill your holidays with more fun and enjoyment. There is a website www.organizedhome.com, that offers free downloads of Christmas planning calendars and organizers. For more information go to www.momswhothink.com.
